Zephyr are a 3 piece band hailing from the Natal Midlands made up of Colin Arbuckle and the brothers Liam and Jeremy Mathias. The band has been playing in this format for just over three years and has been entertaining crowds all around KZN with their soulful songs.
They’ve played in a number of towns and cities - from Durban to Newcastle, Margate to Sodwana, often featuring in and around the Midlands. They make regular appearances at The Forgotten Falls in Howick, and at the Red Door in Pietermaritzburg and have opened for bands like Dan Patlansky, Celtis, Syd Kitchen and Roly Struckmeyer. In 2006 they opened for the Parlotones at the UKZN Ragfest and have played twice at Southern Cross music festival and at Splashy Fen Music festival in 2006 and 2008.
Their music bridges the gap between generations and culture, reaching across all ages, races and creeds with their heartfelt lyrics, catchy melodies and haunting harmonies.
Zephyr’s songs are a blend of feel-good, uplifting rock with lyrics that reach deep into the subconscious and carry a universal message of unity and solidarity to challenge everyone’s outlook on the world. At other times the songs are fun, catchy tunes about life, love, friendships and those common threads that run through all of our lives.
Their versatility and range of music means Zephyr are able to play alongside almost any group and to any audience.
We haven’t got anything on for then, but maybe we can get on our manager to organize something around then, would love to share a stage with you… but must actually double check dates, as our brothers out from the UK in that period and we may be traveling somewhere. But I’ll definitely get back in touch, would you be keen to play up in the Midlands somewhere, or would you prefer DBN?
Thanks guys. Well... I'm going to be in Durban on the weekend of the 6-9 Aug. If you guys are playing that weekend perhaps I could come and share a stage?
