Sounds Like
A disregard for standard song structure, holistic embrace of sound and where the inspiration comes from. Rhythm patterns based upon a primative idea that the beat must be repetitious and hypnotic, whether from a machine or actual drums. Songs have a basic pattern that is then expounded upon at the time of performance, live or studio. Some songs lack any riff at all, some have only one, some have riffs that exceed 45 seconds, where typical songs have riffs that are 2 to 5 seconds. Occaisonally complex, often simplistic. .
Formed in 1991 by Brandon Barnett and myself (Chris Ragan). Using only what was available, a drum machine, 4 track, a few pedals, a cheap pawn-shop bass and a few beat up guitars.________Brandon and I parted ways in 1993, creative differences. I continued to work on the music in my home on small primative 4 tracks and drum machines. In 1997 I managed to get the material played in a band called The August Project, consisting of a conga player, diggerdedoo player, two bassists, noise guitarist, keyboards, drummer, etc. In 2003 I invested in better digital gear to create the songs as they are heard on the myspace page here. ______________As it stands now, I'm going back over the last 15 years worth of cassette 4 track tapes and mastering them in the digital realm for some sort of use, as yet to be determined. I have filled 6 Discs from the primary points in time where I was able to get the creative spark to get the ideas recorded, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, and 2003._______once I've completed the "6 disc box set demo", I will begin work on the next recording with the intent of a more presentable demo, independant release, or......who knows. I have the studio together, I have other session players that are interested and willing....Lets see where it goes.... Dude, I totally pimped out my profile with Thomas' Bitch'n Myspace Editor
I used to stop by Splash's place to borrow his 4-track and some pedals and mics on my way to record Death Fuck sessions w/ Barnett.
One morning i had to step over ENTOMBED, who were sleeping on the floor.
Still have some of those DF tapes.
i like the ambient sounds layered with the guitars on at a loss pt 2. and on d minor inversions, i initially didn't like the guitar lead but it grew on me as the song went on. i about fell asleep listening to it and i mean that in a good way.
