"Here come another couple of pants-soilingly scary numbers from Jill Strong and her right-hand gang of French ghouls, The Rippers. If Rob Zombie’s killer sex kitten creation Baby were ever to leave the House of 1000 corpses and run away to join a band, this is the sort of scary siren song she’d make."
BUBBLEGUM SLUT, April 2009
"We may have lost Lux, but these Anglo-French road traffic accident obsessives are keeping the horror-punk flamejob alive, building on their brilliantly titled debut EP Songs for the Constipated. Evil doings, wrong doings and a twisted take on psychobilly. May contain traces of brains."
CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE, March 2009
Reanimated by the magic of electricity, The Rippers hammer-out horror rock & roll. Given half a chance, they'll slip a sugary tongue into your shell-like before lacerating your ear-drums.
The Rippers formed in December 2007. The band consists of the four members of the Dead Kennedys covers band DDK (formed in 2004) who started writing their own material. Franck, Ivan and Olivier are French. Jill's from Brighton (UK).
The two brand new tracks out - 'Daniel Phosphorus' and 'James Dean Died in a Car Crash' both recorded in January at Warm Audio in Lyon. The CD and 7" vinyl are on sale NOW (see Discography below). The band's video nasty for 'Daniel Phosphorus,' filmed by cult director David 'Pelot' Basso was viewed over 1000 times in its first week on line. Ninka TV in Lyon are showing the video on their network of bars and concert venues.
The band are currently working on new songs and WILL be playing Stay Sick in Brighton in spring 2010. So there.
