Born in 1986, Antoine Guenet started playing classical piano at the age of 11 and already then composed his first piece with
the help of his teacher. Then he stopped piano for a while to learn guitar and he followed jazz classes.
But he soon came back to the keyboards and went to several summer classes at the AKDT : improvisation with Alexandre
Furnelle, jazz piano with Jozef Dumoulin and then with Kris Defoort.This led him to study at the JazzStudio in Antwerp for
one year where he learned the basics of theory and improvisationwith Koen Nijs, Jeremy Calbert, Joe Higham, ...
In 2006 he entered the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Ghent. There he studies jazz piano with Erik Vermeulen, jazz ensemble with Pierre Vaiana, Hans Van Oost, Marc Godfroid, and composition with Frank Nuyts which teaches him classical and post-modern composition, orchestration and the rigour of writing. He completed this learning with an Instant Composition and Improvisation class with Fabrizio Cassol (Aka Moon).
Strong with those experiences, Antoine Guenet formed the electric quartet Shhh in September 2007, in which he plays his own compositions between improvised and written music.
Besides this main project, he is still studying at the Conservatory and he takes part in the free improvisation collective PaNoPTiCoN and in many experiences with, among others, Bart Maris (free jazz), Marcel Sel (funk pop), Bas Cooijmans (swing jazz), Devi Saraswati (psychedelic rock), Arkham Asylum (trip-hop), etc.

À onze ans, Antoine Guenet commence le piano classique et fait sa première expérience de composition, aidé par son professeur. Puis, il délaisse quelque temps les claviers pour apprendre la guitare et suit des cours de jazz.
Il revient cependant rapidement au piano et enchaîne les stages à l'AKDT : improvisation avec Alexandre FURNELLE, piano jazz avec Jozef DUMOULIN puis Kris DEFOORT.
Ensuite, il fait un an au JazzStudio d'Anvers et y apprend les fondamentaux de théorie et d'improvisation avec Koen NYS, Jeremy CALBERT, Joe HIGHAM,...
En 2006, il entame des études au Conservatoire de Gand où il étudie notamment le piano jazz avec Erik VERMEULEN, les techniques d'ensemble jazz avec Pierre VAIANA, Hans VAN OOST, Marc GODFROID et la composition avec Frank NUYTS. Ce dernier lui enseigne la composition classique et post-moderne, l'orchestration et la rigueur de l'écriture. Il complète cet apprentissage par un stage en composition instantanée et improvisation donné par Fabrizio CASSOL (Aka Moon).
Fort de ces expériences, Antoine GUENET forme le quartette électrique Shhh en septembre 2007, au sein duquel il joue ses propres compositions, entre musique écrite et improvisée.
À côté de ce projet principal, il continue le Conservatoire et participe au collectif d'improvisation libre PaNoPTiCoN ainsi qu'à d'autres expériences avec entre autres Bart MARIS (free jazz), Marcel SEL (funk rock), Bas COOIJMANS (swing jazz), Devi Saraswati (rock psychédélique), Arkham Asylum (trip hop), etc...

Ik ben een 21 jaarig pianist/keyboardist die jazz piano aan het Gentse Conservatorium studeer. Ik ben ook open naar veel muziek genres, van rock tot hip-hop, maar ook experimental, trip-hop, jazz natuurlijk.
