History

Everett resident Marilyn Rosenberg celebrated her Dalmatian, Zippy’s birthday, and realized a dream by opening an internet coffee house on July 18, 2005.

Come-sit-stay and you will receive a coffee culinary experience. Our coffee is provided by Seattle’s Hines Public Market Coffee.

The coffee and espresso compliments, Zippy’s twelve varieties of loose-leaf teas, juice bar, breakfast treats, panini sandwiches, soup, fresh salads, and desserts.

Zippy’s walls are lined with creations from local artists of all ages. Poetry readings and musicians are scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings (some morning performances also).

In addition, we will be scheduling coffee tastings. It is compared to wine tasting and is one of the best ways to understand the complexity of the bean.

Zippy’s offers a family friendly environment with a children’s activity area and stays open late to offer downtown Everett a place to interact with friends.

Get spotted at Zippy’s Java Lounge, at 1804 Hewitt Avenue in downtown Everett, a hub for community activity.

hey there, Zippy's Java Lounge!

well, it has been a long and winding road, and an even longer time coming, but my debut CD, I Remember, is FINALLY HERE!!! YAY!!!!!

to celebrate, American HeartBeat Records(tm) has arranged a FREE DOWNLOAD of Now Is The Time in exchange for a valid email address. Now Is The Time is a brand new, upbeat song I wrote: we are living in turbulent times. suddenly it is okay to be greedy and heartless? no way! a song of hope for our future, a new vision of America and the world.

we have a bunch of exciting things planned to kick this whole thing off, and we need to get a better picture of who our friends are, so the FREE DOWNLOAD form will ask you a few questions, like, what is your country and nearest major city. it all takes maybe 15 seconds.

anyhoo, the FREE DOWNLOAD, and the FUN, begins at www.JAETCHISON.com

I look forward to getting to know you a little better, and I thank you SO VERY MUCH for your friendship and support!

please tell your friends about JAETCHISON.com, and ask them to sign up for the email list, too! FUN things are coming up!!

peace from Atlanta, Georgia, USA,

J.A. Etchison

I’M SPEAKING, PLAYING AND WRITING MY JAZZ
I Am A Harpist making love to my bass, and with my voice creasing a microphone in my hand and with my finger I make ink reach out and touch secret places
I speak, and write and play my Jazz
I ornate verbalism in the key of mental jams
My jazz holds all the notes in time from my past, present, and future
I’ll sing to you lyrics from stories un-told
I’ve got the Romantic Blues
So I strum my soul in freeform style
My jazz can be deep blue with lost loves, emptiness, sadness and, contempt
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
My jazz can be sky blue with the pleasures of love, knowledge, and places
I’ve seen dreams come true
Everyday a new note I find to scale an old or new challenge
My jazz is pure, simple & naked for all to see and hear all the notes of my jazz
I’m spinning for you to rewind me, or fast forward me to the next introspective thought, but please don’t eject me, before I inject into you flowing verbs
There’s a part of me you’re gonna wanna to groove too
Let your ears hear me hit that low note
It’s just soul
I hit long waving high notes
I make it funky, as I take you to the end of my symphony
As I speak and write and play my jazz

Here’s some more cool fallout from Wall Street Journal writer Robert Tomsho’s recent article, “No Dough in the Do Re Mi”, that was featured on the cover of the WSJ on February 6th. His article, about contemporary songwriters who have taken on the recession, was also released on February 11th in the European edition of the Wall Street Journal. (I didn’t even know that they had a Euro edition.)

http://online. wsj. com/article/SB123387724064054525. html#identifier

After seeing the article in the Euro WSJ, the French news magazine, Courrier International, decided to include this piece in their next issue (this week I think). Their weekly publication reprints news stories from all over the world. Their art department emailed me requesting some hi res photos of me to use with their reprint of this story. I offered them the same image that was originally published with the article.

I, of course, am both thrilled and amazed at the coverage that my song, “Wall Street Bail Out Blues”, is continuing to receive via Robert Tomsho’s article. Who’d a thunk, that after all these years of being ignored by the main stream music media and denied attention by entire genres of music enthusiasts, labels, agents, agencies that I’d finally get more press than I could shake a stick at via this unusual source? You can knock me over with a feather. It appears that synchronicity and serendipity are working hand in hand in my favor. I must be doing something right! Reg

You oughta hear what I saw!

The YouTube video of my song Wall Street Bail Out Blues

http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=QCdWEHqZJuw

caught the interest of Wall Street Journal writer Rob Tomsho. The story he wrote starts on the cover of Friday's (2/6/09) WSJ and finishes on page A8 where a photo of me is also included. Here's a link to the online article.

http://online. wsj. com/article/SB123387724064054525. html#articleTabs%3Dinteractive

I was surprised that they used an even larger photo of me on this page and even more surprised that he mentioned me right after Neil Young. Mentioning Woody Guthrie's work in this piece was also a nice surprise. Being included in an article with so many other performers of note makes this an extra nice piece of promo.
