Zkye has been performing in Sydney with some of Australia's greatest musician being the likes of Steve Balbi, Paul Searles, Joseph Calderazzo, Danny Marx Young, Garry Holgate, Pete Drummond, Simon Mali (Oohlala), Pete Skelton, Harry Brus, Nick Sinclare, and with CC Entertainment.
I have such a huge range of people that inspire me starting from the great Billie Holiday, Etta James, Candie Staton, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin -I'd say she is at the top, Madonna has been a great business/mental coach for seeing your goal, reaching your goal and then staying at the top by reinvention. Joan Jett, Portishead, Groove Armada, Tori Amos (Of course as I'm a piano player singer) Nikka Costa. Most recently an amazing singer by the name of Angela McClusky with and without Telepopmuzik I definitely suggest checking her out, Debbie Harry has for years been one of my fav's to listen too. Alice Russell's Debut album was brilliant, Angie Stone, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Morcheeba, Bjork, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Minnie Riperton, I love my funk and soul bands Brand New Heavies, Incognito I got to see at the North Sea Jazz Fest. (Holland) which was a life highlight, Although seeing Chaka Chan in Amsterdam was like having fireworks go off in your stomach, Erykah Badu, No Doubt, Bob Marley (the GOD), Curtis Mayfield, Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz, Rickie Lee Jones, Donny Hathaway (I love "A Song For You", Marvin Gaye, Skunk Anansie skin as everyone would know has the most energetic voice, Basement Jaxx, David Bowie I was able to see in Amsterdam too which was brilliant he can still perform like nothing else and with that show I also saw Anouk a Dutch performer who's fab, can't forget the love of my life Pushkin (and Janey) Oh and of course COOPERS

"No I don’t smoke I just know how to use all the FX pedals in my voice"
Life is short,
Break the rules,
Forgive quickly,
Kiss slowly,
Love truly,
Laugh uncontrollably,
And never regret anything that made you smile.

"A VOICE LEFT OF CENTRE" "My God I thought Janis was dead"
I would like everyone to take a moment in time to stop and send your love to my beautiful girl Pushkin. She was the love of my life, my world was always brighter once I saw her loving face.

About me:
BEYOND THE PANE Available from the following stores
BIG STAR THE MUSE BLUE BEAT BIRDLAND RED EYE B SHARP
Zkye (Pronounce it Skye) Zkye Compson-Harris has been performing
professionally since the age of 16,
at which time she commenced studies at the Elder Conservatorium in Jazz voice and Noarlunga TAFE.
Her versatility and professionalism at this age allowed her to participate on
many fronts, including the Solar Winds Big Band and Kaotic Lounge, a heavy rock band.
At 18 Zkye became the youngest Committee member of the Jazz Action
Society Board. Organising Bands, festivals and funding throughout the South Australian Jazz community.
In the following few years, Zkye’s developing versatility had seen her front
The Sexomatics, a funk/soul band, Club Morocco a latino funk band and The
Zkye Compson-Harris Trio, a jazz band covering numerous corporate events
and venues including the Barossa Wine Festival, The French Festival, and
residencies at the Hilton Hotel and The Royal Oak.
Whilst living in Holland for the best of 2 years, from 2003, Zkye refined her
writing skills, collaborating with well known American musician Terry Mann
and Dutch songwriter Jeff Zwart, also actively participating in the highly
popular Dutch “original music “ scene as vocalist with the Dutch electro
jazz/funk fusion band Jazzmatic, which incorporated turntables, brass, keys,
contrabass and didgeridoo to enbue a somewhat Australian flavour in a Euro
fusion sound… While in Holland, Zkye held residencies at inner-Amsterdam
hot spots the Bourbon St Bar, Jazz Alto and The Last Watering Hole, among
other clubs in the heart of Amsterdam.
In just a few months of her arrival she began negotiations with EMI Publishing
as a writer and was approached by Anouk (Top Dutch pop performer) to buy
one of her Songs. Zkye’s rapid rise to prominence in The Netherlands is
testament to her powerful vocal delivery stage presence, broad
jazz/funk/soul/pop repertoire, energy, reliability and above all DRIVE TO SUCCEED…
Upon her return to Adelaide, Zkye has fronted bands Zkye High and
LowBrow, both of which are regular performers in corporate events and
festivals around Adelaide and holds residencies at popular Adelaide venues
such as Boho, The Oxford, Pier Hotel Glenelg, and plays frequently at The
Royal Oak, Topaz Room Findon, The Colonist, The Hilton, The Stamford Plaza
and other Adelaide venues. Zkye also performs with world music group, The
Meru Vibe, which has performed extensively around Adelaide and highlights
include performances in the Fringe Festival 2005 and 2006 and the 2006
Adelaide Festival on the prestigious Persian Garden main stage. The Meru
Vibe opened for international sensation Talvin Singh in Adelaide in November 2006, to critical acclaim.
After completing her first album “Beyond The Pane” Zkye is now
focused on developing audiences on the east coast and overseas as well as
promoting the album in the media. The production of the album was assisted
by a successful grant application in 2006 by the South Australian Youth Arts
Board (Carclew).
Recent highlights include an opening slot at THE BASEMENT in Sydney and subsequent invitations to return, THE DARLING HARBOUR JAZZ FESTIVAL, shows with CC Entertainment and Joseph Calderazzo including "GREAT GIG IN THE SKY" “IT'S ONLY ROCK AND ROLL” at Sydney’s own Olympic Park "TANGELED UP IN DYLAN" and ACOUSTICA By The Lake just to name but a few.
Continuing to flourish Zkye belongs to a voice not easily forgotten or mistaken.
Management Note :
When was the last time an unknown artist walked into Sydney to do an opening 30 min support slot (July 9th, The Basement) and one week later locked in a guest vocal spot on 3 virtually sold out shows for CC Entertainments “Whole Lotta Love” Show (Sydney Sept 21/22 & Gosford 29) and then a headline spot back at The Basement on the 8th of October?
People in Sydney who have seen & heard Zkye's stuff are saying:
“OH MYGOD where the F*^ did she come from!”.... Well the answer is Adelaide!
Alannah Myles (Black Velvet) says:
“Such beautiful expression in your voice on the new track. Bravo”
Industry personnel in Sydney continue to quickly recognize Zkye as a rare talent and anticipation of her return performance continues to grow despite her absence!
More very soon. '07

Jon to Zkye: Greetings from San Francisco California Zkye, you and your band are sounding real good waaay down there in Australia! Great to see you have the spirit burning there not unlike the music we know and love here in "City by The Bay"...small world in Music Zkye! I hope to get down there someday..so far the closest I've ever been was to Auckland New Zealand. Yes I went from Oakland (CA) to Auckland (NZ), had some killin' lambchops at the breakfast buffet at Sheraton Hotel and I was on a radio show at Radio 95b and we also visited Radio Hauraki, which is no longer a Pirate station, it is run by a Robot actually. Keep up the good work there, and if you come to USA be sure to contact me.
