In Dave's own words:

Dave is undead. Like most zombies Dave has an overwhelming desire to feast on human flesh -- especially brains -- but Dave is trying to cut back, since his friends pointed out that making new friends is much harder if you tend to gnaw on them. So Dave feeds on pork rinds instead, which curbs his cravings ... most of the time.

Dave also likes wandering around the mall, parking lots, dark alleys, the cemetery, etc., to search for brains... errrrr Dave means "friends." Big fan of loitering.

Dave also has a job. Dave works for The Management, an organization that used to be a part of an evil corporation called Parasol Dynamics (TM). Now The Management is trying to save the world from evil. Dave's not exactly sure why, but The Management keeps Dave in pork rinds, so t'sall good.
