ZombieWalk Columbus: Raising the Dead to Feed the Living
The living dead can be a pretty resilient bunch. I mean, hell, they're dead! Yet they do not give up. They can lose limbs and yet they carry on as though they haven't a care in the world. You can shoot them almost anywhere, and they will hold tight their drive and determination to capture and devour anything that comes their way.
Does a zombie have feelings? In this zombie's experience, I say yes. And when a goal is set, no matter how optimistic it may be, even a rotting shell of what used to be human will feel disappointment and discouragement when that goal is not met. Some would tell the distraught corpse to move on, that they aim too high. Some would say "Buck up, lil' camper... We'll get em' the next time around". Then, of course, you have the skeptics who would chide that there is no point in setting goals for the undead because there is NO SUCH THING as the undead...
While I can't personally claim the ability to pacify the upset zombies of the world, I can (and will) say this to the walking corpses of Columbus:
We ain't gotta worry about it, because we SMASHED our goal by 30% (yeah, I know math)! 1,313 POUNDS! That's a double 13! That's ALMOST 2/3 of a ton and it's HUGE, corpses. Trust me, I loaded it and unloaded it twice. It's gonna feed a LOT of people. You all really came through and should be REALLY proud of yourselves.
I want to thank each and every one of you for making ZombieWalk Columbus 2009 the BIGGEST and BEST zombie gathering this city has EVER seen! The registration book didn't work out so well, with only 130 some odd names. I know there were more than that. I have heard SOOOO many approximate head counts, numbers ranging anywhere from 400 to 600. My guess would be just shy of 500. I welcome any guesses (within reason) and, I dunno, maybe we'll take an average or something and make it official (MORE MATH).
I had a friggin' blasty blast, and I think most of you did as well. The deader undead zombie gods (and The Ganahl) smiled upon us with AMAZING weather! As always, the photographers did an amazing job capturing the moment, and you corpses did an amazing job on your make-up! We came, we fed, and we were put to rest by the best damn team of zombie killers this side of the Mississippi. Yes, they're bullets, but those bullets LOVE this city. It was an awesome year, corpses, and it's only gonna get better from here. In fact, the clergy and I think it's time we start trying for the world record. We're not as far from it as you might think.
PLEASE, hit me up with any final thoughts or post-walk input that you have! I love to hear from you and YOU are ultimately what makes this event as killer as it is. ZombieWalk Columbus would be NOTHING without it's beloved corpses.
A few notes:
I'd really like to hear from the kid who's face met the orange end of a replica assault weapon during the climax and find out how he's doing. I saw part of his daring effort to maul a member of S.T.A.R.S. on one of the YouTube videos and I'd like to maybe hook him up with a consolation prize or something. That's dedication! Not exactly smart, but dedicated nonetheless!
ZWC 2010 will almost POSITIVELY be during Memorial Day weekend and MARCon, so almost POSITIVELY mark your calendars now. LOL!
Peace (and rest),
-Kurt

I AM SOOOOO F*ING SAD I MISSED THE WALK!!!!!!! Capital Letters Cannot Start To Show My Anger/Depression.
Some people from facebook have posted pictures. these are matthew taylor's pics Then I have some that I saved to my computer...will e-mail or something
Okay, so I'm getting very angry with myspace. 3 times now I have uploaded pictures of the Zombie Walk, and all 3 times now some of my photos got deleted for being in "violation of the terms" (but I keep uploading them again anyway lol)...This was a family event with people in fake blood and makeup having a good time, so there is no violence or anything going on. I have seen hundreds of the same pictures of the same event on hundreds of other people's pages on myspace.
Is anyone else having this problem? I'm either getting really unlucky with some myspace mod that is running across them, or one of my "friends" is actually reporting them. I just don't get it. WTF
I want to thank everyone who helped put this event together, it was such an awesome experience! My 4 year old had so much fun, and can't wait until next year It's the start of a family tradition!!!!
OMG Everyone that posted pics THANK YOU my co-workers otherwise wouldn't have believed the turnout! that and WOW there were some great zombification makeovers there
All photos that I took have now been uploaded; they're available here on MySpace (in my photo albums); for anyone who is not on MySpace, they've also been uploaded to a Picasa gallery at the following address: http://picasaweb.google.com/mjtaylor110

here's a sample of the shots our photographer got that day-
More of you want 'em,
or I could just tag you.
I'm editing the video tonight so I should have a sample to send you within the next few days to put the sound too-
Had an amazing time,
thanks again for all the help both before, during, and after the walk!
