Extracts from reviews:
Decibel Magazine
- Apr 2008: "This is some heavy modern stoner fare. I think you’ll like it. No, I know you, you’ll really like it. All instrumental too. Yay!"
Metalorgie
- Jan 2008: "Zonderhoof delivers here 4 tracks of an average of 7 minutes, heavy, dense, and reminiscent of a Pelican boost to the darkness of Neurosis"
Cosmic Lava
- Jan 2008: "This is one of those rare moments when its possible for something so conventionally and unconventionally powerful to be so good. I'm absolutely impressed and I want to hear more!"
Metal Hammer
- Jan 2008: "Zonderhoof' doesn't sound as if it's in need of catharsis, merely dedicated to carving out it's ponderous riffs in cryptic yet captivating fashion, as it has been doing since the dawn of time. (7/10)"
StonerRock.com
- Dec 2007: "Killer stoner-sludge-doom-metal hybrid with some heady atmospherics and plenty of repeat value"
Subba Cultcha - Nov 2007: "Zonderhoof have the cunning post-modernist knack of taking their music incredibly seriously, yet simultaneously realising that it is, when all's said and done, just music ... and hence worthy of having a bit of fun with"
Organ – Nov 2007 (Issue 228): "Mighty fine filthy sounding instrumental hard/math rock from deepest Wales... and they're for fans of slightly awkward rather large Melvins/Sicbay/F**king Champs shaped giant-riffed things that come flying at your head, hook you in and threaten to crush you."
Rock Sound – Oct 2007 (Issue 101): "Organic, pile driving instrumental rock which grabs your beard with might and doesn't let go! … Bonkers, perhaps. Benders of truth, most definitely. But Zonderhoof are rather excellent and their lunacy should be embraced."
Terrorizer - May 2006: "their inspirations are wholly appropriate... Zonderhoof are musically worthy-to-be-signed material"
Raw Nerve - Apr 2006: "reminds me of the darker side of The Jesus Lizard & Melvins... All three songs are quality. Let's hope they deliver an album pretty soon. Listen to this clever, quality band now!"
