Bremen Town Musician headlines at The Zoo. Bremen Town Musician are a three piece of experimental blues lead by Marisa Allen on violin/vocals, Mayuresh Sathe on drums and Arron Bool on guitar/bass and have been steadily building a profile in Brisbane over the last 3 years. Building a reputation for their gritty and electric live performances that feature a spoken word element and improvised additions to songs from their recently released album No One Is Holding A Gun To Your Head (Songs To Run To) and with comparisons to Bat For Lashes, Dirty Three and Corinne Hardy.
Bremen Town Musician certainly capture the atmosphere of three very accomplished musicians gelling on a common goal. Allen’s stringwork dips between vicious and subtle, while her voice drips with personality. - Time Off
Infamous for their exploding live shows, Ghostboy with Golden Virtues having (dis)graced stages at Woodford Folk Festival; Melbourne Fringe Festival Hub; Byron Bay Writers Festival; and Brisbane Cabaret Festival.
Claire Whiting grew up on an isolated hobby farm in Tasmania with two struggling artists, attending gallery openings from the age of 6 and stealing wine and cheese from underneath the tables. Now Claire Whiting is one Australia's most recognised emerging music talents. Whiting writes Folk/Indie Pop songs that offer irresistible melodies and insightful lyrics.

2009 has been nothing short of epic for The Basics.
Melbourne's hardest working trio have toured relentlessly, criss-crossing the nation and honing their dynamic live show all the while recording their highly anticipated album, 'Keep Your Friends Close'.
Released in Australia on the 25th September and in Ireland on the 30th of October, Keep Your Friends Close transcends genres and lets The Basics’ masterful song-craft and musicianship shine through. We have already been given a taste of what to expect from Keep Your Friends Close; from the instantly recognizable breakthrough single With This Ship which received rave reviews nation wide and was lovingly added to triple j to The Basics’ current single The No. 1 Cause of Death Amongst Youth Today.
Written in the heart of the Australian outback, recorded in the band's Northcote studio and mixed at Abbey Road studios in London by Peter Cobbin, Keep Your Friends Close encapsulates The Basics' musical evolution and demonstrates the diverse origins of it’s conception and execution.
To celebrate this momentous occasion in their career, The Basics will be doing what they do best and hitting the road on a national Keep You Friends Close tour in November. Before they embark on their national tour, The Basics will be heading to the UK to wow audiences in London and Dublin where they have amassed a large and loyal fanbase.

While the mention of their name often invokes raised eyebrows and amused smiles among the uninitiated, Brisbane four-piece Hungry Kids of Hungary produce music that inspires equal measures of curiosity and joy. Dressing their immaculate indie tunes with a healthy dose of 60’s pop sensibility and lashings of soul HKoH have wasted no time in carving out a name for themselves in the Australian music scene.
With a video on the way and a limited edition promotional single now available, the Kids want to show where they’re going. New single, ‘Old Money’ showcases one of the more mature moments from the band’s second EP Mega Mountain, adding layers of both the cardigan and musical variety to their pop-rock ways. The single also offers a brilliant upbeat turn with the ‘Scattered Diamonds (Alcopop Remix)’ from Sydney’s No Device and rounds out with debutante track ‘The Dance’.
They brought you a pair of feel good hits last Summer, commandeering triple j airwaves with singles ‘Set It Right’ and ‘Scattered Diamonds’ floating from car stereos in beach car parks all over Australia. And while you were busy licking ice-cream off your hands, the Hungry Kids of Hungary were doing it tough; sweating it up on festival stages and touring the east coast with other Unearthed upstarts the Philly Jays and Washington.
Prepare for another fun loving summer with HKoH.
