About me:
My early years were spent alongside my family learning first hand about native and exotic animal care. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Nazareth College of Rochester, N.Y. , managed a pet shop for ten years in Pittsburgh Pa., during which time I married my wonderful husband, Doug, and had one ‘human’ daughter, Jackie.
In 1995 the Day family returned to work at my family business, the zoo. A renowned multi-specie pediatric specialist, I am the Zoo Mama.
I have been writing articles professionally for the zoo for the last ten years, and am frequently published in zoo trade magazines. I have also written for the Sussex County 4-H program, Wantage Township, Skylands Magazine and the Agriculture Division of the New Jersey State Fair/ The Sussex County Farm and Horse Show.
Under my supervision the 4-H club, Lions, Tigers and Bears, OH MY!, created a coloring book “The Bear Necessities of Safety”. This coloring book is now used as an educational aid for children by The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife. Attending the Working Writer’s Workshops, sponsored by the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council, gave me the information and encouragement needed to pursue publishing my book,The Zookeeper’s Daughter.
Writing this book has taken me six years in the winter season. I was inspired by my Dad. So many of his early adventures in zookeeping have been reduced to one liners over time. I started writing my animal memoirs only for my daughter, Jackie.
As a published author, I present my life stories and experiences in The Zookeeper’s Daughter. for every animal enthusiast to enjoy.

Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet anyone who loves animals as I do. If you love pets, or are a zoo keeper too, I'd enjoy chatting. If you have any animal questions I'd try my best to answer.
