This is the beginning of a new day. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, In its place is something that you left behind.. Let it be something good.

OUR MISSION
Zoological Wildlife Foundation is an organization dedicated to educating the public about rare and endangered animal species in captivity and in the wild. Raising public awareness will aid the preservation and propagation of these creatures that are disappearing on a daily basis.
With our trained staff and volunteers we are taking a step further to educating the public by offering educational programs to school, festival, private and special events.
ZWF also adopts abused, unwanted, neglected or confiscated exotic wildlife of all kinds. At our facility these animals will have the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest extent possible. Together we can help preserve these magnificent creatures.
We Specialize in:
Sharing knowledge in the captive management of Capuchin and Gibbons and other rare and endangered animals.
To offer educational animal tours by appointment (when our farm is completed).
To offer up close and personal to our community and others who wish to support our farm and Zoological Wildlife Foundation.
Exotic Animal Amnesty Day 2009:
Mona Lisa, Black Howler Monkey
..
On Saturday March 21st the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission held their second annual Amnesty Day. A great gentleman from Islamorada by the name of Bill decided after four and a half years that he would bring his much loved pet monkey, Mona Lisa in. Then apply for the proper permits. This is when we met one of the most interesting and rare of the new world monkeys, a black howler.
Though the intentions were for Bill to get his permit and get her back, it turns out that by state regulations he would need 2.5 acres. This is an impossibility for him at this time. So we have decided to build Mona Lisa a large and comfortable cage with hopes of eventually finding her a mate... This will require funding that at this time is not available to us. Your contributions would be greatly appreciated.
We would like to thank one of Mona Lisa's old friend, Susan, for her contribution. We hope she will drop by on occasions to visit.
We would like to thank Bill and Kelly Sabat for their contribution of a new awesome cage for Mona. These very good people not only have loved this incredible monkey as a child, but continue to support her in her new life. Thanks Bill and Kelly!
On April 21st, we were honored with the visit of a great actor, Thomas Mikal Ford. He has starred and co-starred in several movies and television shows such as "Martin" and crime drama "New York Undercover".

ZWF is based in South Florida and is a USDA and State license facility. Situated in five acres of land which is not open to the public.
Our facility is home to a wide variety of endangered and exotic animals, and birds. No animal on our facilty goes unattended. We have several volunteers working with our trained professionals, feeding and handling these magnificient cratures daily.
All the animals are housed in large enclosures whith others of their same species, so that they can have the freedom to move and interact with each other. We do our best to give our animals the best life possible.
In the near future we will plan to have educational tours availble by appointment.
Together we have created ZWF to what it is today. To promote the conservation and propagation of rare and endangered species in captivity and share our knowledge with others.
Volunteers and donations are always welcomed to help us continue providing the ultimate conditions and enrichment possible for these wonderful animals.

Thank you for supporting OVFA! Please take a moment to look around our profile, read the blogs and answer the weekly questions! OVFA is a very open minded animal rights group that welcomes opinions from all who want to give them. We believe that every animal is as important as the next and none are ever left out here. From the land, to the sky, to the ocean, to your backyard and home, we love them all. Our supporters are extremely important to us so, please feel free to message anytime. You'll will get a response and all of your questions will be answered. OVFA is here for the animals, but we're also here for the people who love them. And when you get a chance, please visit our official website at, www.OurVoicesForAnimals.org and sign our guestbook!
I'm always asked the question "How can I help?" One easy way to contribute is to visit one of my favorite websites. www.TheAnimalRescueSite.com. Their sponsors donate food to shelter animals every time you click! Its easy, quick and free. But don't forget them on the weekends, their numbers really go down Fri-Sun.
Thanks again for supporting us and welcome to OVFA!

Spring is here and so are the butterflies! This week I have a gallery of a particular group of butterflies called Brushfoots. Brushfoots are the most commonly known and encountered of the large colorful butterflies (excluding the swallowtails) found in Florida and the Americas. These include the monarchs, fritillaries, buckeyes, and the viceroy below (who has nearly identical markings as the toxic monarch butterfly) to keep it from being eaten by birds.... cool trick, huh? :-)
Click the butterfly below to see my gallery - and please let me know what you think!
Thanks for adding me! I try to add as many new photos as often as possible, but if you'd like you can check out my main galleries by clicking on the alligator. I also have a new blog (the link is on my home page - you can't miss it - again - just click on the alligator. )
If you have any questions about photography or about Florida nature in general, don't hesitate to ask!
