ZPOAN VTENZ was established in 1994 by Ramūnas Peršonis (POCCOLUS/SOVIJUS). When, in 1996 joined professional folk – singer Vilma Čiplytė and drummer Audrius Šimkūnas (SALA, POCCOLUS), first album „Gimę Nugalėt“ („Born to Conquer“) was recorded and in 1998 released by British‘s own NEAT METAL. Name itself „Zpoan Vtenz“ found on the old Prussian flag means „Victory of Vytis“. The music of ZPOAN VTENZ is based on the ancient LIthuanian folksongs. Though the band does not simply „harmonize“ them, but try to add new flavours and give folklore a deeper sound. Recently ZPOAN VTENZ are keenly experimenting with electronic sounds.
