Zumaya Publications was born in Canada in 1999. In 2006, we moved across the border to Texas and added five imprints: Otherworlds (SF/F/H), Embraces (romance and women's fiction), Enigma (mystery, suspense and thrillers), Boundless (GLBT) and our newest, Thresholds (YA/middle grade). We're proud of our catalog of excellent reading material, and even prouder of our talented, hardworking and award-winning authors.
We are committed to two things. First, we want to bring good books and good writers to the attention of readers. Second, we want to do that while making as little impact on the environment as we can manage.
To that second purpose, our books are printed only when they're wanted and offered in electronic versions--ebooks. We don't accept returns--that is, allow booksellers to order copies then send them back after X weeks if they don't sell. This results in problems, since most bookstores won't stock or, in some cases, order a book if they can't send it back.
This doesn't mean Zumaya books aren't available at your local independent bookseller or bookstore chain, just that you have to be prepared to insist they go looking for it. Which, of course, we hope you will.
Opening doors to creative minds means offering opportunities not just for talented writers to have their work made available but for discerning readers to have access to excellent books that step outside the boundaries imposed by traditional publishing methods.
