Zuri is a native of Columbia, SC. She is a poet, actress, model, community activist, and Executive Director & Founder of a Cultural art event called Parallel Worlds. Zuri has been writting poetry since the age of 13. She found her niche in acting at Winthrop University. In 2000 she studied theatre abroad at Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY. She recieved her bachelors degree in theatre with an emphasis in performance arts from Winthrop University in 2001. Zuri was casted for the first local sitcom, called "Metro" in Columbia, SC. Without a 2nd thought I've done what no other poet in the state has done. I've maintained 2 poetry(live band,comedy and singing)venues in the state at the same time(Florence and Charleston County). I've allowed people to get paid for their art form.I've brought Tony Award winning poets,Grammy Award winning poets,HBO DeF Poets,National Championship SLAM poets as well as razor sharp slick mouthed very descriptive poets such as my weight to the state;or to my locations inside the state.I've supported just about every other poet with an event going on in the state.I'm one of the very few poets in this state to travel (on the consistent) to other states to do shows and be recognized as representing poetry and South Carolina.I'm also the only nominated poet with a cd(I have 2).I love this art form and have spent well over $17,000-yes-to further poetry in one year in this state.I'm not bragging on any accomplishment,but If I don't talk about me truthfully detailed who will.Log onto WWW.GEECHEE ONE.COM and vote for whomever,just someboby.Peace and respect.
