Zuzuka Poderosa drops Brazilian bred, Brooklyn based swagger like no other. A stylistic blend of Funk Carioca and NYC rumble add a breath of fresh air to today's international music scene. She's hard to miss with her unapologetic sultry Portuguese lyrics. This, coupled with booty bumping basslines, she packs New York nightclubs like sardines.
The early 90's NYC Drum n’ Bass scene inspired her to master the wheels of steel. Now, under the alias of "DJ Babyfresh" she spins rare vinyl and Brazilian gems alongside DJ partner Joel Stones ( Tropicalia in Furs Records ).
It was a natural progression for her to grab the mic – her passion for writing and poetry could no longer be ignored. Through her riveting live performances, and America's new appreciation for underground Brazilian music, she now commands an audience worldwide.
Zuzuka was recently approached by Samsung to be a part of a national ad campaign "Samsung Juke Box Hero," through which she introduces the public to Zuzuka Poderosa and Baile Funk. "Time Out Singapore: What's in Your Stacks?," section (DJ of the month track review) recently rated her single "Mas Com Você" number one song in the magazine's online article.
She is currently hosting a monthly event featuring live performances in collaboration with Le Poisson Rouge, which showcases some of the hottest new tropical sounds from across the globe. The rotation consists of an exotic blend ranging from Baile Funk, Dancehall, Ghettotech, Booty Bass, Afrobass, and many other tropical delights.
She was recently invited to sing on Marcelo D2's new album " Arte do Barulho" with the track "Meu Tambor". Gandja Monteiro directed a video for the song with Marcelo D2, Zuzuka Poderosa & DJ Nuts on his trip to NY last month. Stay tuned for the new video coming out soon!

Nascida no Brasil, com residência no Brooklyn há alguns anos, ZUZUKA PODEROSA invade a nova cena musical com um estiloso ritmo influenciado pelo funk carioca e pelos beats nova-iorquinos. O resultado é uma mistura inusitada que já é sucesso em Nova Iorque mesmo com um repertório de canções quase 100% em português.
Difícil não se envolver pelas letras ousadas e pelos basslines incríveis que acompanham zuzuka e fazem lotar os clubes e boates por onde ela passa. Suas músicas são influenciadas pelos ritmos miami bass, ghetto music, hip hop, black music, funk, samba, reggae dancehall, rock, entre outros.
Nos meados dos anos 90 o drum’n’bass a inspirou nas pickups, quando ficou conhecida como DJ Babyfresh. Logo depois começou a tocar vinis raros de música brasileira ao lado do DJ Flashblack, dono da loja Tropicalia in Furs Records, no East Village, NY.
Para ZUZUKA PODEROSA foi uma progressão natural pegar no microfone. Sua paixão pela poesia e pela escrita não poderiam mais ser ignorada. Atualmente, os fãs de Zuzuka já ultrapassam as fronteiras da América do norte, chegando ao Brasil e Europa atraídos por suas performances inesquecíveis e sua nova abordagem da música underground brasileira.
Zuzuka participou da campanha nacional “Jukebox Hero”, da Samsung, onde ela apresenta-se e fala sobre o Baile Funk. Seu hit “Mas com Você” ganhou a 1ª posição no ranking do mês na sessão “What’s in your stacks” da revista Time Out Singapore. Também, foi mencionada em vários blogs importantes da cena musical, como Fat Planet, e foi nomeada “A Diva do Baile Funk de Nova Iorque” pela conceituada revista Fader Magazine.
Zuzuka é representada pela VIGARISTA PRODUCTIONS, baseada em Nova Iorque, da qual também é sócia fundadora. A VIGARISTA tem como objetivo combinar diversas culturas, com novos conceitos e abordagens em diversas áreas, tais como, música, arte, audiovisual e moda.
