there ain't nothin more important to me than music. it means more to me than anything else ever has. it seems in our society music is meant only as accompaniment for other, more "important" things. music is merely the background to our movies. its a means to the end of getting members of the opposite sex to sleep with us. its the filler during our parties. its the hook that gets us to buy stuff. its a way to show off how much money we have. its just another form of entertainment.
i'd like to meet someone for whom music is not just another type of entertainment. not just an excuse to grind against someone's body. not just the "side dish" to the "entrees" in life... because for me, music is the main course (leave it to me to talk about music with a bad food metaphor)! someone who loves the challenge that new music presents, loves the expansion of mind that can come from discovering the meaning behind or within a piece, someone who understands appreciates and loves music as art; as something that expands our perception of reality!
because the pleasure of mind, heart, and body i feel when listening to some of my favorite music, or getting that "aha" feeling upon discovering something new buried within a piece of music, or that "click" that happens when a complex and difficult song finally paints its message coherently on the walls of my brain, well these feelings just haven't been matched by anything else within my realm of experience. i wish i knew how to share the feeling with someone; i don't. i wish i knew the reason i came to value this thing called music so much, because then i would teach the reason to everyone i came into contact to. I would spread it like wildfire, like the gospel, or like a wicked outbreak airborne AIDS... but in a good way, you know?
Are you making fun of running?! Hey, I just wanted to tell you that I dressed up like Cindy McCain for halloween, because I show my true colors unlike you and your dirty dem brothers :) I CAN HAZ REPUBLICAN!!!!!!!
