DAVID HALLIDAY,one of the most demanded musicians in the Mountain West, is an AssociateAdjunct Professor of Saxophone and jazz combo coach at the University of Utah,and a private saxophone instructor, Survey of Jazz teacher, and the director ofthe Jazz Ensemble at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.


He is the winnerof the “Outstanding College Performer” award from the Reno Jazz Festival(1996), a four-time “Outstanding Tenor Sax Soloist” winner at the LionelHampton Jazz Festival (1999-2002), and an IAJE “Special Citation ForOutstanding Musicianship” recipient at the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival.



A Californianative who relocated to Utah in 1999 to attend Brigham Young University on afull music scholarship, David’s musical travels include 45 United States and 8European countries.



Numeroustelevision shows and commercials including Showtime’s Inside The NFL, ABC’s TouchedBy An Angel, and NFL Network’s TopTen series, have featured David’s saxophone playing and originalcompositions. David appeared on JoshGroban’s AWAKE LIVE DVD, BET (BlackEntertainment Television), and the WB’s Everwood,and is routinely featured in Synthesis (BYU’s top jazz ensemble) highlights on KBYU-TV. David’s original compositions have aired on HBO, CBS, Speed TV, andnumerous other networks worldwide.



Some of thedistinguished musicians with whom David has shared the stage include JoshGroban, Dizzy Gillespie, Ben Folds, The Temptations, Wynton Marsalis, , TheFour Tops, Kurt Elling, Linda Eder, and the Utah Symphony. David opened for multi-platinum jazz artist DianaKrall at Red Butte Gardens (Salt Lake City) in July of 2009. As a teen,David studied with Grammy-winning jazz sax legend, Joe Henderson. Heattended Loyola University in New Orleans, where he was a member of the nowlegendary funk band, Galactic, and studied privately with Tony Dagradi.



David foundedhis own record label, Lone Peak Sound, with his debut CD Flamingo in 2003 and has since produced several more recordsincluding Chase Baird’s 2010 release Crosscurrent,which received 3-and-a-half stars in Down Beat magazine. David’s most recently release is Dreamsville, a jazz ballads albumfeaturing sensational New York and San Francisco pianist Jullian WaterfallPollack, New York bassist Christopher Tordini, and Salt Lake City drummer SteveLyman. Early next year David willrelease The New Orleans Project, anoriginal New Orleans jazz/funk project David recorded in New Orleans withworld-famous New Orleans drummer Stanton Moore, San Francisco Hammond B3 playerWil Blades, and Utah guitarist Corey Christiansen.



David enjoysteaching all levels of saxophone and jazz improvisation (on all instruments)privately at his home studio in Salt Lake City. He maintains a staff position at the Jackson Hole Music Experience’sRock ’N’ Roll Camp in Jackson, Wyoming, and is a co-musical director of JazzVespers at the First Unitarian Church in Salt Lake City.
