Raised on Ice Cube and mentored by local hero Ol’ Tyma, Birmingham, Alabama’s Lil Haze got his big break in early 2008.
It was then that his party-rap single “Drop Down” won a local radio station’s “Beat Down” contest two weeks straight, finally losing to Bobby Valentino’s massive hit “Tell Me.” He then traveled to Atlanta and recorded “Whut It Iz” with the Ying Yang Twins, a single which by the end of the year would land on his debut album Doin' Da Most. ~ David Jeffries
