When he was six years old he started tostudy classical violin. While still at secondary school, Pavel founded a rockband in which he played guitar and sang, and out of this developed a punk bandcalled Ineptus. They played in local clubs and at a few festivals, but aftertwo years the group was banned by officials of the Czechoslovak Communist Partyon the grounds that they were "negative and anti-social". Pavel latermet singer/songwriter Ivan Hlas and became a founder member of his band Nahlas("Too Loud"), which enjoyed wide popularity in the Czech Republic. In1992 he met the American singer/guitarist/songwriter Brad Stratton, andtogether with Australian Grahame Ryan they formed a band called Snake Eaters.In 1997 Pavel became a member of Phil Shoenfelt's group Southern Cross, and nowplays rhythm guitar and mandolin in the band, as well as violin. Since 2005 heplays also in duo with Phil Shoenfelt, which is promoted as "Phil Shoenfelt &Pavel Cingl". He occasionaly collaborates also with another interesting musicianssuch as Mark Steiner, Henry Hugo or Lorraine Leckie. During his musical carreerhe has played as a guest with many bands and theatre companies, and in additionhas contributed to the recording of a wide range of CDs, film soundtracks, TVshows and theatre performances, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Pavelhas performed live in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, France,Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Switzerland, Greece,Spain, Italy, Norway, Iceland, England, Canada and the USA.
