Mixing R&B and urban funk rhythms with choral gospel and praise & worship anthems, Ricky Dillard & New "G" (also known as New Generation and New Generation Chorale) have brought a modern spin to worship music through several albums, often recorded live at various churches, cathedrals, and halls where the group's polished look and high-energy performances are best displayed.
The first three albums, 1990's The Promise, 1993's A Holy Ghost Take Over, and 1995's Hallelujah appeared from Malaco Records, after which Dillard & New "G" moved over to Crystal Rose Records for 1996's Worked It Out, 2000's New Limit and 2004's Unplugged: The Way Church Used to Be (even though the set featured electric instruments, however unobtrusive). Dillard established his own Animated Entertainment & Light Records imprint for The 7th Episode: Live in Toronto, which appeared in 2007, and the group's eighth album, Keep Living, which was recorded live in Detroit, followed under the same imprint in 2011. ~ Steve Leggett
