22Jacks was founded by Joe Sib, after his previous band WAX ended in 1995. Ever see the Spike Jonze video where the guy is on fire running down the street? Well, that was WAX. They toured for about five years and released two full-lengths and a few 7 inches. Along the way they played with everyone from The Ramones to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. On August 9, 2005 WAX played their last show together at Slims in San Francisco. Sib returned to LA and began Side One Dummy Records with his roommate and best friend Bill Armstrong. During this time Sib started writing songs with people he always admired. One of those people was Steve Soto of the Adolescents. The two had been friends since the 80’s when Sib’s first band, Front-Line (from San Jose) opened for The Adolescents. Sib and Soto got together and wrote the band’s first release “Uncle Bob” in Stockton, CA, which was released on Side One Dummy Records. ....The initial line up feature Sib on vocals, Soto vocals and guitar, Sandy Hansen (Joyride, Adolescents) on drums, Scott Shiflett (Face To Face) on bass and Jason Cropper (original guitarist of Weezer) on guitar. ....With Bill Fraenza on guitar and Jose Medeles on drums the touring line up for 22 Jacks was set. During the next six years 22Jacks toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada as well as two trips to Australia. “Uncle Bob” was followed by an EP “Overserved” and then the band’s second full length “Going North.” 22Jacks has had many members, including: Matt Riddle (No Use For A Name, Face to Face), Kelly LeMieux (Goldfinger), C.J. Ramone, Joe Gittleman (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Frank Agnew (The Adolescents), Dave Nassie (No Use For A Name) and James Achor (Royal Crown Revue). ....In 2001 the band disbanded. Sib left to focus full-time on Side One Dummy Records, Soto went on to reform The Adolescents and Medeles joined The Breeders. In late 2007 22Jacks re-formed to play a few shows. The band still gets together to play occasional dates around California. ....The current line-up of 22Jacks is Steve Soto, Joe Sib, Bill Fraenza, Jose Medeles and James Achor. .... .. .. .. .. ................ .... .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... ............
