For as long as they can remember Elaine and Brenda have been singing southern gospel music. As children, they would go to bed listening to a stack of records placed on the record player. They would fall asleep listening to the music of The Happy Goodman’s, Rambo’s, The Lanny Wolf Trio, Bill Gaither and many, many more. Southern gospel music runs deep in their roots and once southern gospel music gets in your bones, you are never the same!
Jimmy Hoskins joined this trio in April 2007. He brings to these two sisters harmony a bluesy, jazz sound. Jimmy is from Blue Springs, Missouri and was also raised in a musical family. In the 70’s he traveled extensively with singer/song writer, Bud Chambers. Bud Chambers wrote the song, “One More River to Cross”, which was made popular by the Rambo’s in the mid 70’s. In his travels with Bud Chambers Jimmy met many of the greats in gospel music. The Rambo’s, The Archers, Andre Crouch and many more.
Elaine, Brenda and Jimmy have each one been involved in music ministries within their local churches but always desired to be used of God in a greater capacity. Even with the success they’ve experienced, they felt something was missing. They had to follow the call that God placed on their lives many years ago. That calling was to sing and minister to people. To see lives and hearts changed. Now, these three voices have come together to continue what God has called them to do. Sing and minister.
2nd Generation has appeared at churches, State Fairs, National Quartet Convention, Singing in the Sun, Silver Dollar City, TBN and many other events. In July 2005 they released their first project “Who Wants To Praise The Lord”. Soon to follow was the first single “Hanging On A Nail”, released to national radio. The response to this song was, as one DJ commented, “unbelievable”. The group debuted on the Singing News Charts as well as other Southern Gospel charts in the fall of 2007 with their single, “Trouble Me No More”. In February 2008 they went into the studio with Gerald Crabb as their producer. This sophomore project is titled “I See a City” and their current radio single is the title track, “I See a City”, which was written by Gerald Crabb.
Regardless of the setting their priority is to minister, not just sing a song. Their mission is that one life is changed as they leave a 2nd Generation concert because of a word spoken or a song that is sung.
The trio comes from the Kansas City area and looks forward to meeting all of you down here on earth, or someday in heaven! You will feel the anointing as this trio blesses you with their music. You will love their southern gospel style, close harmony and the fun that comes along with this trio. Get ready to be blessed and keep your ears tuned to the sounds of 2nd Generation.
