Bio
.. .. .. .. .. .. ..Chuck.. has been playing guitar since he was seven years old - which is a pretty freakin long time. Too long, if you ask me. Had he actually practiced all these years, he might even be making money at this music stuff. Chuck was recently laid off by Santa, due to to the economy, and is currently unemployed. Santa is an SOB. He is currently working ..ing a charitable organization called "The CRS Foundation" whose mission is to help alleviate the suffering of musicians afflicted with CRS Disease. His goal is to raise enough money to provide all sufferers with Teleprompters. For now, music stands will suffice. Chuck has the dubious distinction of being the oldest member of 3rd Gear, but he is not the one with the least amount of hair. .. .. ..Mark L... is 3rd Gear's rock & roll Zelig. Although he makes absolutely no claim to greatness of any sort, he has been fortunate over the years to be NEAR greatness, having met the likes of Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Rotten, Gene Simmons, and the legendary MC Hammer. Mark has been influenced by all of these chance meetings, and the result is an onstage persona that combines Bono's humility, Springsteen's slickness, Rotten's grace, Simmons' subtlety, and Hammer's intellectualism. Mark is a veteran of several NJ bar bands that are too embarrassing to mention. His favorite food is pizza, and his favorite color is paisley. Mark is allowed to play guitar and sing for 3rd Gear because he has incriminating evidence on the other three band members. He joined the group after a tragic kiln accident killed his predecessor. .. .. ..Jim.. has played bass since switching over from guitar in high school to escape the glut of Eddie Van Halen wannabes. Raised on bassists like Graham Maby (Joe Jacksons band), Brian Ritchie (Violent Femmes), Bruce Thomas (Elvis Costellos band), and Greg Norton (Husker Du), Jim enjoys grooving in the world between the guitars and the drums. Jim is an alumni of little-known NJ bands such as Brave New Squirrel, Meisterband, The Fords, and alt.sex.dentist. In addition to 3rd GEAR, Jim also secretly plays bass in the South Orange band FELT. Jim has a lot of hair. .. .. ..Patrick.. started playing the drums the minute he heard Ahamd Jamal's album "At the Pershing". He was 6 years old and that was all it took. Since then he has played with various jug bands, wedding bands, polka bands, as well as an all original band steeped in traditional Aborigine scream singing. When not playing in 3rd Gear, Patrick can be found at home tending to his rare Koi pond, practicing Tai Chi, sipping Chai tea, and running around with his children. .."Remember folks, it's all about the rhythm. That's all you need to know".. .. .. -
