Books
These Famous Welsh Authors: Richard Llewellyn, Alexander Cordell and Dylan Thomas:
Richard Llewellyn:
His most famous novel is "How Green was my Valley" - about coal mining in 19th century Wales. Two later works, about life in the Welsh colony in Patagonia, South America, conclude this trilogy about the Huw Morgan family.
Alexander Cordell:
His most famous novel, "Rape of the Fair Country" - about struggles in the coal and iron industries of 19th century Wales - is also the first work of a great trilogy. Cordell also wrote many other novels about Wales - and other lands.
Born and raised only a few hundred yards from my own childhood home, his most famous works is "Under Milk Wood", it's 'a play for voices' - best when read by Welsh actors. Another of his classics is "A Child's Christmas in Wales". He addressed his concern with mortality – in a work composed at the time of his father's death – in "Do not go Gentle into that Good Night".
The 10 books in the 'Evan Mystery Series' by Rhys Bowen will transport your mind to North Wales.
Heroes
Gareth Edwards, Barry John, J.P.R., The Pontypool Front Row, . . . need I go on? They are from the 1970s, but the WRU as a powerhouse has returned in this decade.

SDSoGSL Events in 2008:
SDSoGSL Events in 2007:
The music, movies, television and books listed on the left side of this page are those that I believe would be embraced by all SDSoGSL members. I have my own (additional) favorites - including:
Rock music of the late 50s - 60s era, especially The Rolling Stones and The Beatles; Bluegrass music; Blues; all Celtic music.
I'm not much of a movie-goer, prefering to stay away from the stench of popcorn and watching them on rented DVDs.
On TV, I like Monty Python, rugby matches, EPL and UEFA soccer games, Monk, Law and Order, NOVA, National Geographic, Discovery, Jeopardy
I also like to tune in (via the internet) to current and archived comedy programs on BBC and 'Celtic Heartbeat' on Radio Wales.
Who I'd like to meet:
People who were BORN and RAISED in Wales - especially if you live in the Greater St. Louis Area. Better still if you are YOUNG and/or ENTHUSIATIC. Those of Welsh heritage are welcome at SDSoGSL, too.
Not sure if you're Welsh? There's a very informative 'pdf' document in:

Vote for ‘Voices of the Valley’ for The Classical Brit Awards 2008
The Fron Male Voice Choir are in the category of 'NS&I's Album of the Year' it is the only one to be chosen by public vote. It's a computer vote this year not a phone vote and only one vote per computer not per e-mail address.
On a slightly different (though equally important) note,
Wales after winning the Triple Crown is on course to win the Grand Slam in the 6 Nations Rugby Tournament this weekend!
To witness this glorious moment you will need to find a bar that is showing the game, not an easy feat in North America!
Thankfully the folks at Setanta Sports has added a handy venue finder to their website, simply punch your zip code into: www. setantanorthamerica. com/venue_finder. aspx to find a venue near you.
If you are in the Chicago area, The Chicago Tafia Welsh Society will be heading up to The Globe to watch the game:
