Formed in Nova Scotia in 2004, Above All Else is a unique four piece rock band that has already made a dent in the music scene. Every member of the band shares a passion for music and fight continuously to bring their music to new listeners. This Canadian rock group consists of Nate Fleming, Jeff Ward, Corey Decoste, and Jacob Carter.
Above All Else’s full length debut album “Second Chances – released July 29th, 2007” was self-written, self-produced and recorded with Pierce Rogers of Audio Empire. The majority of the songs are devoted to the fans who have helped AAE build a strong fan base back in Nova Scotia. The first four tracks of the CD are examples of the song writing avenue which continue to influence newly written songs to be dynamic, intense, and honest. Before the release of their debut record, Above All Else had already shared the stage with their talented Canadian friends: Ten Second Epic, Faber Drive, Sydney, and Shotgun Rules.
With the release of their debut album and signing to Takedown Records, Above All Else toured across Atlantic Canada on their two week CD release tour with 16th Avenue and Mainstreet Exit. After a very successful tour Above All Else shared the stage with rock groups including Protest The Hero and The Holly Springs Disaster.
"Above All Else is the epitome of hard work and dedication... They haven’t gone the route that many bands have gone and in a tough industry such as this, you have to do nothing but admire that! They have stuck to their punk roots, built on it and left me (as well as a lot of other people) extremely impressed. Above All Else is definitely making their mark on the crowds they play for as well the bands that are on the bills with them." Mark Peyton (Owner of Takedown Records)
AAE has taken their baby steps, now they are certainly ready to run with it. Their music is becoming more mature, sophisticated and thriving. Expect nothing less than an explosion from Above All Else in the Canadian music scene, a lot sooner than later!
March 9th...
So there’s lots of new people checking this, we should probably be as professional as possible. Thus, we have officially bought rights to the phrase “I f***ed Jeff’s mom.” That’s as professional as it gets! Roflcopter. Haha
First off we’d like to thank EVERYONE that has been visiting our page lately, I’m not sure if everyone is paying attention to the play counts…but…we went from roughly 300-500 plays a day (which was huge for us) to being the most daily played ‘unsigned’ band in Atlantic Canada across all genres. Our plays have been going through the roof, it’s roughly 1500+ on average a day. In just over a week of our new song being released we got 20,000 plays. We can’t thank you all enough, keep spreading the word it REALLY means a lot to us. While we’re on thank you’s and congratulations we’d like to give a shout out to Beyond Ash, our buddies from Pictou County. They’ve made it to the Bodog Battle Regional Finals in Toronto. We know you’re upset that we didn’t advance.. it was because of an age requirement we didn’t meet, so…instead of rooting for us, help out the boys; also props to MSE for making it to the finals of the Mazda Muzik competition in Halifax. Good luck broooooooosef’s.
Now, our news I guess… haha. We officially released 2 pre-production tunes from our upcoming debut album. “Arrogance Is Sexy” and “You Didn’t Watch Sesame Street… Did You?”, so far the reviews are insanely appreciated. We love reading every one of them! We’ll keep releasing pre-production as we record them with Mark Scott @ Smashbox Recording Studio, we love you like a mannequin…“what’s goin’ on Mark?....wicked!” We’re gearing up for some shows with our buddies in Faber Drive, we’ll be hitting Truro for 2 shows and Halifax! To prepare for that, we revamped our merch…BIG TIME! We’ll have hoodies, new t-shirts, new posters, yadda yadda’s and videos of Jeff’s mom! Hrmmm… so we’re in talks with labels and endorsements right now, it’s gonna be fun announcing this shit to you! We’re still working on a friendship / roster relationship with Takedown Records so check out the label and every band under it, it’ll make you pee Kool Aid…OH YEAH! More?...March 19th we’re doing our second version of ‘East Coast Road Trip’ on ECFM 94.1 we’ll post a linky dinky doo so you can listen up. Urmmm, other stuff…we’ll be front page of ‘THE NEWS’ in New Glasgow, NS. That should do for this months stuff that’s already been officially written in stone.
