Abstract Artform is a songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer from Canada. Considered one of the most prolific and funkiest beatmakers in Canada, Abstract has brought Hip-Hop back to the origins. Often compared to the early greats and the true lyricists of our time Abstract is a firm believer in the elements and it comes through in his music. A solo beatmaker and MC, he's a one man crew, and in 2005 formed a project management firm/label coined Sound Management Productions. Since the record labels inception there has been three releases. The most recent is Abstract Artform's "Prairie Kid", which is available worldwide. Abstract Artform has shared the mic with several artists including Akil the MC from Jurassic 5 and Ceeknow from Digable Planets. Currently Abstract is doing shows to support the release and working on the new record. Kick back relax, roll a special cigarette and enjoy some Abstract Artform.
"...Distinctively Canadian Hip-Hop..."
"...National hit song writing material..."

PRODUCER (ONE REPUBLIC, LINDSAY LOHAN, CRASH TEST DUMMIES, DEFTONES)
"Abstract Artform is the real deal, true emcees that cannot be denied, reminiscent of Jurassic 5, The Roots, and even old school hip-hop like Fab 5 Freddy."

"You one of the coolest, smartest and sincerest artist I know. Much success." - Akil the MC
LA SKILL DISTRICT/JURASSIC 5
"You can call him Abstract Artform. You can call him Kid A. You can even call him Shea Malcolmson. But don't call him a poser. This debut proves the local MC and producer is definitely for real. His beats are stark yet distinctive, his eclectic tunes splice '70s samples with his own material, and his gruff, tongue-tripping flow bypasses thug fantasies for intelligent realism. We'd call that cool."

REVIEW: 3 stars out of 5
"What happened to hip hop?" MC Abstract Artform, aka Shea Malcolmson, asks on Here We Are. Good question. Luckily, this Prairie kid is eschewing the commercial hip hop cluttering our radio airwaves and, like Winnipeg expat Grand Analog and Edmonton's Cadence Weapon, takes a decidedly old-school approach to hip hop. Heavily funk inflected, Prairie Kid dares you not to dance - but it's Malcolmson's deep, Buck 65-esque vocals that make this record shine. Check out Boom and They Call Me featuring the renowned DJ Brace.

Yo Abstract Artformasaurus. I just found out that we're related...and as a special family only present we've made a new song for you called "End of Days" (start doing backflips now). It's an epic instrumental opus to the moment when our ancient Dino relatives saw a large fiery object plummeting towards them. Please come to our page, give it a listen and let us know if it makes you feel like something catastrophic is gonna happen. If the song upsets you too much we will be holding several s support groups (read: comcerts) in the near future. Check our page for locations, dates and times.
But, you should really listen to our songs. What if we were lame? Then you would be friends with a lame band. That would be lame. Better double check :P
Change is inevitable and constant. Not getting the "CHANGE" you expected? This is my two cents. (NEW SINGLE 4-QUARTER CHANGE COMING SOON!!! -- Check SpiritualHipHop.info for Updates)
