El comienzo en la historia de Acantilada se remonta al año 2002. Producto de un conjunto de canciones reunidas por Julián Carando bajo el sugestivo título de Fines de Abril, Principios de Mayo el grupo comienza a reunirse a tocar los temas y definir un sonido. El disco obtiene buena recepción en DiscMedi-Blau de Barcelona. Al año siguiente la editorial catalana decide editarlo en territorio europeo, en tiempos en que la banda aun se presentaba bajo el nombre de Sereen. El disco no ha sido editado en la Argentina ni tampoco se han registrado videoclips de sus temas, pero está disponible. Durante 2003 la banda emprende una breve gira por España, presenta el trabajo y vuelve a Buenos Aires. Los años siguientes son de formación, presentaciones en vivo y composición constante. A esta etapa le sigue una participación en Listen Without Distraction – A Tribute To Kyuss (2004, en donde se presenta una particular versión de Soopa Scoopa And Mighty Scoop). Más tarde, luego de algunos cambios en su formación, el grupo cambia su nombre por el de Acantilada, surgido a raíz del título de una canción de la banda colega argentina Taura. Ya con nueva denominación la banda selecciona el material que va a ser parte de su segundo disco. Participa del último EP de Taura (Aconcagua-Acantilada, 2007) con una versión electrónica y paranoide del tema que da nombre a la banda y colabora con la cantante holandesa Stephanie Ringes en Aconcagua. Casi al mismo tiempo se desarrolla el proceso de grabación y edición de Resolución Número 2, que resulta extenso y complejo; el resultado es editado a fines de 2007 por el sello Giboon Records. En su segunda obra, Acantilada logra un sonido más compacto como banda de pop, rock y electrónica. Las letras trascienden lo meramente romántico y penetran en territorios más diversos y subjetivos como el paso del tiempo, los miedos y la soledad del día a día. El sonido se presenta en constante variación y los temas, bien heterogéneos en cuanto estilo: del piano solo a la batería furiosa, el susurro o el tinte gospel. Durante 2008 Acantilada continúa presentando su segundo disco y se encuentra a punto de estrenar el clip de 24000 Horas.
Acantilada’s history goes back to the year 2002. As a result of a bunch of songs gathered by Julián Carando, and under the suggestive title “Fines de Abril, Principios de Mayo”, the band gets together to play the songs and to define its sound as a shaped band. The record is well received by DiscMedi-Blau from Barcelona. The following year, the Catalan label releases it in European soil, period in which the band used to introduce itself under the name “Sereen”.
This record has not been released in Argentina and the songs have not been translated into video clips but still, it’s available for the audience. During year 2003, the band goes on tour to Spain presenting their work only to go back to Buenos Aires not a long time afterwards. The following year will be of settling, live performances and constant developing of new material. After this period, the band appears in “Listen Without Distraction – A Tribute To Kyuss” (2004, in which they record a singular cover for Soopa Scoopa And Mighty Scoop). Later on, and after some line-up modifications, the band becomes ACANTILADA, name taken from a song belonging to the Argentinean band Taura. Under its new name, the band selects the material that will become part of their second production. They participate in the latest Taura EP (Aconcagua-Acantilada, 2007) with an electronic and paranoid version of the song that names the band, and joins forces with the Dutch singer, Stephanie Ringes, for the song Aconcagua. At the same time, they begin the recording process and release of “Resolución Número 2” which happens to be lengthy and complex; the result is released in late 2007 by Giboon Records. In their second production, Acantilada achieves a more compact sound as a pop, rock and electronic band. The lyrics transcend the merely romantic and go deep into more diverse and subjective regions such as the sands of time, the fears, and the daily solitude. The sound is constantly fluctuating and the songs are stylistically heterogeneous; they go from a single piano to ranging drums, from a whisper to a gospel-like chorus. Throughout 2008, Acantilada keeps on featuring their second record and they are about to screen the new 24.000 Horas video clip.
