    My hero was and forever will be my grandmother. She was my rock and the only person who truly loved me unconditionally and accepted me for who I was without expectation. She ascended on January 10, 2007 and I miss her very much, but I always feel her spirit very close, watching over and guiding me.

About me:

Hi, I'm Miguel-José (aka "Acorn"). I am 36 years old and I live in Lima, Perú with my husband-soulmate, Maurizio (aka "Monk"). I am originally from New Orleans (Delacroix Island), Louisiana and of Isleño descent (Canarian Spainish). I'm a R.N. (Public Health) with the International Red Cross (ICRC) currently working throughout Central and South America.

I'm an amateur-hobbyist beekeeper and science nerd. I like being outdoors in nature, hiking, camping, exploring old roads, jungles and rainforests, thunderstorms, frogs and pelicans (my totem animals), the smell of fresh coffee, hot cinnamon rolls and snuggling under the covers in cold weather. I enjoy cooking, reading, crocheting, playing backgammon and listening to Nueva Canción, Early Jazz-Blues and Southern Rock.

I'm a proud gay Independent Catholic and "Energy Worker", a student-practitioner of Curanderismo, Naturopathic Medicine and Kundalini Yoga. My SPIRITUALITY and PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with our Lord and Lady and the ONE - the Universe, is very important to me and is a big part of who I am.

Who I'd like to meet:

I'm only on MySpace. I don't do Facebook and Twitter - that's for a different generation and type of personality, so this is where you'll find me in most of my free time. Most of what's in my blog are bits of this and that, which I've found here and there, on the internet, in books, magazines or other outlets - they're things that are interesting to me and have decided to use my blog as a storage system to keep them all in one place, so feel free to re-post what you like and pass it on. I've included the original sources when I could. Unless stated by me, I don't claim to be the author of any of it. I'm just keeping the chi flowin'.
I'm pretty selective about my friends, so please don't take it personal if you send me a friend request and I deny it, it's just apples and oranges, that's all.
I'd like to meet people who are chill and open minded but also morally and ethically conscious, spiritual, unique, who have knowledge, depth and substance, a decent level of intelligence and who can speak on a variety of topics and issues. I have very little patience for ignorance, self-righteousness, egotism, stupidity and incompetence. USE YOUR BRAIN AND THINK FOR YOURSELF!!!

Never be content with someone else's definition of you. Instead, define yourself by your own beliefs, your own truths, your own understanding of who you are and how you came to be, and never be content until you are happy with the unique person you are!

And another thing... if you want to be my friend cool, let's be friends, but don't use me as just another number in your "friends" collection or to use me to send apps to. Unlike some people here, I like to be in contact and talk with my friends. I go through my friends list once a month and clear it out and if I haven't heard anything from you in atleast a month then you're just taking up valuable realestate on my space and you have to go becasue I don't need you - for me quality is much more important then quanity. If you want to be friends then you'll understand this, but if it pisses you off then you're not the kind of person I want to be friends with anyway so let's not waste either of our time. Cheers.
