When Volume 1 of the Best Of Acoustic Alchemy came out in 2002, one of the problems the band had was choosing only a few tracks from the extensive collection of albums written during their time with GRP. With so many personal and fan favourites to pick from there were quite a few that deserved to be remastered and re-released but sadly just didn’t fit onto the single CD.
Thankfully the album was so successful (it has become one of the labels top selling contemporary jazz compilations) that those tracks that had missed out were given a second chance with the release of volume 2 of the Best Of.
Among the 17 tracks on the new album are “Oceans Apart”, “London Skyline” and “When the Lights Go Out” all of which have become favourites amongst the band’s many live fans, and even has the beautiful orchestral piece “Act of Innocence” which prior to this album has only ever been available in Europe.
To go with the songs are extensive liner notes telling some of the stories behind the music, and a collection of never before seen images of the band’s founding members Nick Webb and Greg Carmichael.
