South Africa: The Drive (ie Joshua and Henry Sithole and Bheki Mseleku when he was with them), Bra Sello, The Soul Brothers, Pinise Saul, Dudu Pukwana, Django Bates ( as in Live at Bracknell and Willisau c. 1983), Dollar Brand esp. his Islington Town Hall gig - Apr 74, Jonas Gwangwa, Barney Rachabane, Kaya Mahlangu, Irene Mawela and the Sweet Melodians, Tete Mbambisa, Ishoba Lembongolo... Thomas Phale, producer David Thekwane.
Brazil: Ivan Lins "A Noite" and albums of that period, Tom Jobim "Passarim"..Toninho Horta, Milton Nascimento esp. 1980 gig in Paris "Geraes", Nana Caymmi, Joyce & Hermeto Pascoal (several times at the Jazz Cafe).
US/Soul/Jazz/Europe etc: Miles Davis, Frank Zappa gigs at the Hammersmith Odeon, Herbie Hancock at the RFH with Marsalis Brothers c.1983/4.. those Blue Note records with Freddie Hubbard, Bob Brookmeyer.. Mysterious Traveller - Nubian Sundance 12th apr 1974 in a johannesburg record shop.. Miles Smiles... c 1976 in Kohinoor Records, Kort St.. I heard the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Jan Gabarek, McCoy Tyner, Don Cherry, Chico Freeman all in Paris 1980.. many bands in the Bass Clef Hoxton Square esp. The Iains and Human Chain.. Duze Mahlobo with Bheki Mseleku and Elliot Ngubane. Dudu + Pinise + Allen Kwela in the foyer of the Greenwich Theatre c. 1983.. Weather Report in at the Apollo Victoria - Nov '75.. Zawinul Syndicate at the Blackheath Concert Halls 1997. Many many gigs at Ronnie Scotts: Roland Kirk Dec 1976, Sun Ra, George Coleman & Cedar Walton 1975 'Eastern Rebellion' time.. the Jazz Centre Society in the 70s: Gordon Beck, Stan Tracey, John Taylor.. Hey Adam How's it going? Everyone loves your playing on Nothing Lasts Forever! Infact I sang that very song (minus the harmonica...not many chromatic players in Leicester!) at Market Harborough Jazz Club on 12th April. I see you are playing there in November.
