Although the early years of this new millennium sped up the rebirth of some dead music by unfolding its technological miracle, it now belongs to the talented artists to lose the shackles that would tie them to the musical culture.
It is at this unprecedented period that the band Adam Kesher made their appearance.
Only two years ago, their "Modern Times” EP, entered, with aplomb, the sparkling hybrid rock arena, integrating primitive sophistication and synthetic release. Their music –quintessentially Pop i.e. being quite knowingly frivolous- was still making its mark through the clear-sighted contemplation of their condition.
Big festival promoters took an interest and were quickly in raptures as punters at the Route du Rock, the Eurockéennes or the Paleo were blown away by the performance, bouncing off each other frenetically and looking as happy as ever.
Following their second EP (“An allegory of chastity”), with a national tour, a few one-offs in the UK, and a snippy excursion to Germany and The States, the band stretched out their vision last April and released their album called “Heading for the Hills, Feeling warm inside”, an album they will be premiering on stage at the wonderful SXSW festival.
You discover in them a flourishing band which is more mutant than hybrid, with very neat and diabolical song writing, delicately perverted, rising from the heart of an extremely full sound, augmented by high pitches of paranoiac additional scores.
Fellow artists haven’t been shy of showing their appreciation of the band, inviting them on stage, as did Digitalism in Montreal or “Saint“ Sebastien Tellier. Worthy laureates of the FAIR prize, favourites of the Chanel fashion house, Adam Kesher are riding high and 2009 looks like a tipping point towards a more significant future.
The newly reshaped band is well on its way to making its own reverse way into pop culture: Preserving the main ingredients of the band’s breadth, whilst erasing the friction areas, spicing up the sap and shedding their skin, to showcase their talent, leaving home sweet home to leap into the intimate unknown.
Adam Kesher manage to keep themselves in perspective, but yet out of their skin to brand their new Ep “Continent”. Ah Continent. Clear headed as ever, the song writing is more intense, trimmed and gripping. Running freely, yesterday’s intensity is now multidimensional, tense and out of reach.
« Attraction », « Hanging Around » and « Knock Myself Out » are lullabies about self-alienation, how absurd human organisations prevent the paving of another way.
Weak willpower is unacceptable for Adam Kesher, who will, little by little, transform and grab destiny in their own hands, looking straight ahead.

Si les années 00’s et leur miracle technologique ont accéléré la résurrection des musiques mortes, il appartient aujourd’hui aux artistes de talent de s’affranchir d’une trop grande révérence envers la culture de la musique.
C’est dans cette conjoncture inédite que le groupe Adam Kesher apparaît.
Il y a deux ans à peine, leur EP Modern Times les place dignement, bien qu’arbitrairement, sur l’effervescent échiquier du rock hybride réconciliant sophistication primitive et décharge synthétique. Leur musique – d’essence pop - consciente de son air frivole se démarquait du lot par un regard lucide jeté sur sa condition.
Sous le charme, les programmateurs de grands festivals les approchent, le public de la Route du Rock, des Eurockéennes ou du Paléo, dansent avec frénésie et rebondissent de joie.
Après un second ep (An allegory of chastity), une tournée nationale, plusieurs crochets par l’Angleterre, une tournée uppercut en Allemagne et aux États-Unis, la formation tamise sa vision et sort en avril dernier leur premier album intitulé Heading For The Hills, Feeling Warm Inside qu'ils défendront en avant première à Austin au fabuleux festival SXSW.
L’on y découvre un groupe plus mutant qu’hybride. Un songwriting diablement soigné, subtilement perverti, ancré avec force dans le cœur d’un son touffu soutenu très haut par des arrangements paranoïaques.
Signe de l’élan d’estime qu’on leur porte, des artistes comme Digitalism à Montréal ou « saint » Sébastien Tellier, les invitent à les rejoindre sur scène.
Digne lauréat du Fair, chouchou de la maison Chanel, Adam Kesher enchaîne grave.
2009, année charnière les fait pivoter sur un nouvel axe, déterminant.
Le groupe aujourd’hui remodelé, est bel et bien disposé à prendre la culture pop à rebours.
Garder le sel qui en fait son immense richesse, et gratter ses zones de friction. Pimenter la sève.
Disposer de soi, témoigner de ce que l’on est. Partir de chez soi, s’élancer dans l'intime inexploré.
Une distanciation, non sans distinction, qu’Adam Kesher marque avec panache sur leur nouvel EP, Continent.
Plus lucide que jamais, le songwriting se resserre, perd du bide, pour se coller à la chair. Diffuse, l’intensité d’hier est aujourd’hui multidimensionnelle, tendue, aérienne.
« Attraction », « Hanging Around » et « Knock Myself Out » sont des fables sur l’auto aliénation, ou comment l’absurdité des organisations humaines murent la possibilité d’un autrement.
Une faiblesse de la volonté inconcevable pour Adam Kesher, qui petit à petit prend en main sa destinée, le regard en avant.
Les prémices d’un second album prévu au printemps avant lequel, comme un pont jeté entre ces deux évènements, le groupe entame une de ses plus importantes tournée française (au côté des Stuck in the Sound).
