Italian saxophonist Ada Rovatti began playing piano at an early age and only at the end of high school, picked the saxophone as her main instrument.
Recipient of a Berklee College Scholarship she studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston before moving to Paris, where she start to collaborate with different artists.
After her experience in France she moved to New York where she made herself known as band leader, sideman and as well as clinician. She has performed with renowned artists such as: Les Paul, John McLaughlin, Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Victor Bailey, Miroslav Vitous, Joanne Brackeen, and many more.
Her recordings have received great reviews all over the world. In 2003 her release “Under The Hat” was voted as number one in the “Revelation” category of the 2003 in the Brazilian newspaper “Tribuna De Imprensa”, in 2006 her CD “Airbop” was nominated by one of the critics at All About Jazz as one of the top Ten CDs of the year.
She also appears on the Grammy winning CD by Randy Brecker –“34 th N Lex”–ESC Records (best contemporary jazz Album of 2003) and on the acclaimed CD of John McLaughlin “Industrial Zen”(2006)
In addition to her musical expertise Ada appeared in the movie ‘Mona Lisa Smile’ featuring Julia Roberts.
Her new album “Green Factor” -to be release on March 1st 2009-is a unique recording with a melting pot of irish/celtic/jazz/fusion influences with strong harmonies and sophisticated arrangements.
