Adi Dick is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, beatmaker and producer from New Zealand who you may know from his outstanding contributions to the Return of Fly My Pretties album and live shows, or from his involvement with Wellington band Stylus77. Hopefully by now you will have heard his debut album “Our Place”, released in 2007 on Loop Recordings – a stunning collection of South Pacific soul, steeped in reggae, drenched in dub that is full of self-penned, self-produced gems.
Adi, who has been involved in the New Zealand music scene for nearly a decade, relocated to London in June 2007 to explore Europe’s musical heritage. Since then he’s toured the UK and Europe with Fat Freddy’s Drop as a backing singer, attended the Red Bull Music Academy participated in the Red Bull Music Academy project “A Class of it’s Own”, writing and recording with The Mizell Brothers, Om’mas Keith (Sa-Ra), Theo Parrish, Steve Spacek, Mark Pritchard, Black Spade, Skymark, Andreya Triana and more and has also performed numerous shows around London and also in Paris, Amsterdam, Rome and Moscow.
For his current live shows Adi has taken on the role of “one-man-band” of sorts. Armed with his acoustic guitar, microphone and looping pedal, he recreates his songs, effortlessly mixing beat-box loops and effects, guitar overdubs and vocal harmonies to give you an one-of-a-kind experience.
Adi is currently writing and recording new material and has provided his vocal talents to various producers from around the globe. With a handful of remixes under his belt he is also focused on creating various works in the beatmaker/producer seat with other vocalists including his latest project with vocalist LP (Lisa Preston) as “Sons of Puha”.
Hey Adi, i just checked out the video 'Our Place' Live at the Soundshell WGTN off the LOOP site. That is one wicked live tune & video. Love the way you start off with that guitar riff, that is a big groove song. Was thinking, you wanna come round home sometime in the summer. BBQ, Beers, make sure you bring your Guitar!
