   About Admiral Browning

Sailing comfortably under the aegis of Admiral Browning, these adventurers have since settled at over 100 ports of call since commencing gigging in early 2005, focused mainly in their home state of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. Several mini-tours canvassed the Southeast US, and as far west as Arizona. Along the way the Admiral has had the honor of sharing the stage with established acts such as The Bakerton Group, Internal Void, Stinking Lizaveta, Valkyrie, Earthride, Unorthodox, Abdullah, Tonegrown, Minsk, Christine, Sasquatch, Acid King and the Terminal Lovers, as well as playing multiple festivals including 2006-2007's Stoner Hands of Doom VII and VIII, Cabin Kegger of Doom I-III, and 2007's Doom or Be Doomed.

2009 has been an exciting year so far, seeing the release of our latest opus and debut of the power trio lineup, _Magic Elixir_. The Admiral is continually questing for new sonic frontiers to explore as they continue to write and play out songs for an upcoming full-length LP, as well as a special surprise collaboration to bring in the new year! Having already conquered new shores through the Northeast and Midwest on the Sarsaparilla Roadshow tour in May and the High Seas adventure in July with our friends Ol' Scratch, the Admiral was honored to participate in the tenth anniversary of Stoner Hands of Doom in September. With the sun on our face and the wind at our back, this vessel is unsinkable. We'll see you on the road!

Reviews for our latest album MAGIC ELIXIR

"A predictable debt is owed to Sabbath, although Admiral Browning draw more from the expansive, experimental side ... The arrangements could have been concocted by an indie supergroup featuring members of Don Caballero and Sleep. Magic Elixir is a small package to shoe this all into, but it sure whets the appetite for the upcoming full-length." - Decibel (8 out of 10 - review not yet available online)

"All the parts, stoner rock, psychedelia, prog, come together into Admiral Browning's unique vision of what heavy metal can and should be when its limits evaporate in the ground zero where they split musical atoms." - Rock and Roll Meandering Nonsense

"Maryland's ADMIRAL BROWNING have a guitar and bass sound which is as huge and massive as Mount Everest." - CosmicLava.com

"While every track is different from each other, the EP is a exercise in fuzzed doom and sludge. The whole thing is over before you know what hit you which is a pity because this just makes you want more." - Earthdog @ Doom Mantia

"...sort of defies categorization, in a good way ... sounds death-metallic at times, yet Floydian/Zeppish and tinged with Southern rock at others. Pretty unique, and it works." - Jim Cirile, Progression Magazine (issue 57, review not available online)

"...the Admiral reaches port in superior form with all of the fragrant spices and fancy exports you’d expect from one the most powerful, instrumental trade ships to sail in recent times ... As ridiculously awesome as Dead Pets was, I think Magic Elixir is better and will pave the way for the band to sandblast minds even more precisely on the next full-length." - Hellridemusic.com

"Instrumental rock a funny thing? Maybe sometimes, but ADMIRAL BROWNING is no joke!" - Raysrealm

"A fairground of rusty demons and head-banging angels, the peddler was right; never before HAVE so many ingredients been brought together to form such a soothing concoction." -Metalreview.com

"...a talented group with a mass of ideas at their disposal. This is only an EP and it manages to stand up great on its own..." - Heavy Metal Time Machine

Reviews for Dead Pets

"ADMIRAL BROWNING may be the most impressive and stubbornly unique band of forward-thinking metal alchemists toiling in the underground today." - Blabbermouth.net

"A more mature & organic effort than the band's also-excellent debut, [Dead Pets] is a slab of instrumetal that goes places, with atmosphere acquired not by gimmicky production, but layered, unexpected songwriting. " - Hellridemusic.com

"As was the case with Maiden Voyage, Admiral Browning has written an album that's never boring and always captivating. Again, this is some seriously smart music. " - stonerrock.com

"If you like instrumental music, this is a must have for you! Great band, great songs…" - Sludge Swamp

"Throughout the album, Admiral Browning proves that they can do what most instrumental bands can’t; write engaging riffs that don’t sound forced because they’re not trying to overcompensate for the lack of a strong lead voice. " - MetalReview.com

"... unlike many instrumental rock bands, each track on Dead Pets has a definite flavor of its own." - peacedogman.com

Reviews for Maiden Voyage

" Now, with some understanding that all instrumental metal is not created equally, this is not your grandfather's SATRIANI here." - peacedogman.com

"Maiden Voyage is some seriously smart instrumental rock. " - StonerRock.com

"Reminding one of progressive metal outfits (along with a healthy dash of stoner metal) that are worshipped in Europe, Admiral Browning impresses time after time." - Smother.net

"If you think a band that plays a cross between Porcupine Tree and Mastodon without the vocal work might be cool, then Admiral Browning is a new band from USA to keep an eye on." - concreteweb.be
