BIOGRAPHY
Manic folk-rock singer-songwriter Adrian Hardkor examines unchartered sonic landscapes with his new EP ‘Road To The Left’. His sound conjures the punk-inflected folk of The Avett Brothers and the “Americana Soul” of Delta Spirit, while his unique and off-kilter delivery draws comparisons to Bob Dylan, Daniel Johnston and the late Vic Chestnutt. A regular on the East coast music scene, and now with the completion of his first full-band album, Adrian is well on his way to showcase his boundless energy, ambition, talent and hope to the world.

Adrian is a Midwest born (Michigan) and lived in Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin before matriculating at the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Telecommunications career ahead of him. Starting his musical A musician all his life, Adrian has played the accordion, piano, recorder, and guitar, as well as percussion in his high school jazz band.

Under his moniker, “Hardkor”, bestowed upon him by ‘Road on the Left’ bassist Jean Finstad and his girlfriend at a “The Nine” East coast singer/songwriter showcase series night, Adrian has played Arlington’s own Iota Club, Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, Milkboy Coffee Bryn Mawr, near Philadelphia, the legendary Bitter End in New York City, and Minneapolis’ Acadia Cafe. He counts Modest Mouse, The Weakerthans, Matt Pond PA and Josh Rouse among his musical inspirations, in addition to childhood influences like Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles and Detroit’s venerable Motown label.


'ROAD ON THE LEFT' EP - PRESS RELEASE
‘Road on the Left’ is a departure from Adrian’s prior acoustically-focused solo work. The album features Jean Finstad on upright bass, Mark Williams on lead guitar, Tommy Lepson on organ, Jon Ozment on piano, Mike Smirnoff on percussion and Jason Chimola on digital effects. Self Produced at Kensington, Maryland’s Blue House studios, the EP is a culmination of years of hard work in part of Adrian and his backing musicians.

Adrian writes deeply personal songs, striking vignettes of love, heartbreak, and alcohol-fueled indiscretions and recriminations. His lyrically and emotionally dense compositions draw comparisons to fellow Midwesterner Craig Finn of The Hold Steady. The title track of the EP is a tequila-fueled rocker meditating on failed relationships, while “Catch Up” is a sweet piano-driven ballad in the vein of Randy Newman that reflects on the nature of faith and love.

His debut album will be released October 2010 on Blue House.
