The erratic american outsider Al Berkowitz had hit the rock bottom in the late nineties. He retired from showbiz, gave up his druggy adventures and set up a refreshment stall in a coastal Spanish town. He failed. He became a vagrant and wandered all over Europe for three years. He almost died. He found love in a younger Spanish junkie and settled down in a slum housing next to Madrid. She died shortly after but had time enough to regain his talent and vitality for all of us. Then, he focused his long time angst in songwriting... He is back again, all cleaned up and ready to turn over your trembling souls. He doesn..t even smoke. He only drinks wine and sings. We're glad he found a local dying band in Madrid. They can't understand his music but do know how to perform it. Al feels lucky. The three ex-Inhabitants feel happy. Ain't easy to describe their live performances. Rare sounds, flamboyant arrangements, held back rage, powerful haunting voices...Al's remembrances will do you harm. You won't sleep. You will never find peace of mind. You'll come back.

La Al Berkowitz Band se formó en Madrid en 2006 cuando tres músicos locales, a su vez miembros de una desafortunada banda local llamada The Inhabitants, conocen al bluesman retirado Aldous B. Berkowitz. Cuando el encuentro se produjo de forma fortuita en una calleja del céntrico barrio madrileño de Malasaña, Mr. Berkowitz llevaba más de una década viajando erráticamente por varios países europeos ganándose la vida de diferentes formas. Tanto el buen clima como la hospitalidad de sus gentes, hicieron que el viejo bluesman se decantase por España y, en concreto por Madrid, como lugar definitivo de retiro. Fue en ese momento cuando los tres jóvenes madrileños instaron a un Berkowitz cansado y depauperado, agotado ya por los infructuosos intentos de montar una banda que recuperase sus antiguos sonidos y conceptos, a retomar su andadura musical junto a ellos. Tras varias deliberaciones y charlas que fascinaron a los muchachos, se llegó a la conclusión de que Aldous, más que asumir labores instrumentales dentro de la banda, habría de erigirse como consejero espiritual y musical.
