Music (particularly progressive and power metal), cheesy television shows, music, random intellectual conversation, music, reading, music, and working out. And music.
Music
My absolute favorite bands are (in this order): Dream Theater, Fates Warning, and Brave. Other bands I dig in the realm of dork metal include: Andromeda, Angel Dust, Angra, Ark, Balance Of Power, Blind Guardian, Brainstorm, Cellador, Circle II Circle, Circus Maximus, Communic, Conception, D.C. Cooper, Crimson Glory, Destiny's End, Dreamscape, Edguy, Enchant, Firewind, Freak Kitchen, Future's End, Gamma Ray, Helloween, Iced Earth, Iron Savior, Jag Panzer, Jorn, Kamelot, Krucible, Leatherwolf, Magistral, Nightingale, Jon Oliva's Pain, Onward, Outworld, Pagan's Mind, Pathosray, Pain Of Salvation, Persephone's Dream, Pink Cream 69, Primal Fear, Prototype, Prymary, Pyramaze, Rage, Reading Zero, Redemption, Rob Rock, Royal Hunt, Saint Deamon, Savage Circus, Savatage, Secret Sphere, Silent Force, Sonata Arctica, Spheric Universe Experience, Steel Prophet, Stratovarius, Stride, Superior, Suspyre, Symphony X, Symphorce, Tad Morose, Theocracy, Threshold, Thunderstone, Vanden Plas, Vision Divine, and Zero Hour.
Movies
The Crow, Airheads, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Princess Bride, Spinal Tap, Tombstone, and any Kevin Smith movie. Other than that, I'm too busy listening to music to bother with visuals.
Television
All the shows that everyone denies watching but has seen every episode at least five times: 7th Heaven, Boy Meets World, Full House, Saved by the Bell, and Step By Step. Perhaps that's why I'm the most well-behaved frontman I know!
If I want laughs, I go for Friends or Seinfeld. As of late, though, I've really been digging on Modern Family.
When I want to get in touch with my feminine side, I stick to The Golden Girls and The Nanny. In addition, I've recently been catching Cougar Town.
House is a cool show, but I rarely have time to watch it. Upon seeing the debut episode, I have been making time to watch Deadliest Warrior. Of course, who could forget the greatest cartoon ever--Masters Of The Universe!
Books
Anything by Dave Barry, anything by George Carlin (R.I.P.), Candy Girl by Diablo Cody, Drown and The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, Waiter Rant by Steve Dublanica, High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, Why We Suck by Denis Leary, Pro Secrets Of Heavy Rock Singing by Bill Martin, An Askiew View by John Kenneth Muir, 1984 by George Orwell, The Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett, Silent Bob Speaks and My Boring-Ass Life by Kevin Smith, Lifting Shadows by Rich Wilson and more to come now that I work at a bookstore.
Heroes
Jason Becker, Mattias "IA" Eklundh, Daniel Gildenlow, Mike Portnoy, Steve Vai, Nick Van Dyk, Frank Zappa (R.I.P.), and anyone else who sticks to their guns and isn't afraid to show how they really feel or what they really think.
After seeing Heavy Metal In Baghdad, I have to add the members of Accrasicauda to my list. I feel eternally spoiled as a musician after seeing the sacrifices these guys have made just to play the music they love.
About me: Welcome to my page! I'm the vocalist for the Salt Lake City-based progressive/power metal band Katagory V. You can find their MySpace page in my "Top Friends" section. Right now, you can only hear what they sound like with their previous singer. I suggest you check those songs out, however, because they really rock! I'll make an announcement once we have some tracks up with my voice.
In addition to Katagory V, I am also singing for a new band called Question Of Madness. I like to describe our sound as "power doom metal." The band features current and former members of The Chasm. We're working on our debut album now, so I'll let you know when we have any music available for listening.
From 2005 up until the very beginning of 2009, I was in a Chicago-based power metal band called Bavmorda. We recorded a three-song demo in 2006. You can check out the songs from that demo on that band's MySpace page, also located in my "Top Friends" list.
If you can't guess already, I'm quite the music nerd, especially when that music is melodic heavy metal. However, since I've been active in bands for the past four years, I don't get nearly as many opportunities to sit down with my headphones and introduce myself to new sounds as I used to have. Fortunately, working on my own music has filled me with a great sense of purpose.
My interests outside of metal include weightlifting, running, reading, and goofing off with my colleagues.
My vocal influences include, but are not limited to, the following: Ray Alder, Russell Allen, Pat Benatar, Mark Boals, Harry Conklin, D.C. Cooper, Bruce Dickinson, Ronnie James Dio, Daniel Gildenlow, Ian Gillan, Rob Halford, Steve Hogarth, Timo Kotipelto, James LaBrie, Jorn Lande, Rick Mythiasin, Rob Rock, C.J. Snare, Zachary Stevens, and Kip Winger.
Feel free to drop me a line at this page whenever you'd like. I'll do my best to respond to everybody as quickly as I can.
Stay metal. Never rust.

Who I'd like to meet: Anybody who has the same passion for music that I have. I love making new friends, and I find that music makes the best connections.

I wouldn't say that I'm the king of youtubeage. Jose far surpasses me in his knowledge of weird ass videos. Though I did find that Benny Hill one to be so sadistic that I couldn't pass it up.....and I like annoying you guys with stupid shit. =P
If you wanna hear our older stuff, you can catch it at http://www.myspace.com/martyrsofdecadence. We had to replace the guitarist and wanted new vocals, which is why we came up to you. I'll keep you updated when we start recording anything newer. I'm gonna check my schedule and see if I'm available for that UFO show and maybe head out to see it.
