  • Bio

Hi, I'm Alee O. Karim, an Iraqi-American guitarist who was raised on a bunch of conflicting shit including speed metal, American top 40 radio, and the music of Baghdad that his parents used to remind of his roots. This and more coalesced into the weird amalgamated psych-pop songs that I'm creating now. The first proper release of this material is a miniature album of sci-fi ballads, including the song .."Microsleeps".., a rough mix of which you can find on the player above. This collection of songs was originally performed as ..Sci-Fi Song Cycle.. at the Meridian Gallery in January 2009 with Agnes Szelag on cello/vox and Marielle Jakobsons on violin/vox. I'm very excited about sharing this music with everyone and I am planning a special release extravaganza (what does that word exactly mean?) for Spring 2010... ..Above you'll find samples of my solo work and compositions. I compose for chamber ensembles of various instrumentations for films that do and do not exist. If you are need of a composing collaborator, feel free to contact me here or email ..alee@tentacle.net.. I also play guitar/vox/tweaked sounds for my band, ..The Atomic Bomb Audition.. and for ..Holly Caust.. with The Norman Conquest on electronics/vox/etc. If you're still curious, more info can be found at my web HQ: ..aleekarim.com.. inquire here or there for booking, kudos, and all else... ..Lastly, here's some footage of me playing bass with Damo Suzuki of CAN. Also with members of Grey Daturas and Oaxacan. This is about 1/20th of our set..... .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
