Aleksandra Kovac, nasa uspesna i talentovana pevacica, kompozitor i producent, prva srpska MTV dobitnica i kantautor sa vise od 25 godina iskustva u muzickom biznisu, kako na domacoj sceni, tako i u inostranstvu, otvara skolu pevanja "Beogradski Glas". Oformljena tako da odgovara svim uzrastima i nivoima, skola omogucava poducavanje pevanja od strane vrhunskog interpretatora i pedagoga. Aleksandra vise od deset godina radi sa najboljim pevacima regiona, kako na vokalnoj tehnici i produkciji, tako i na izgradnji stila i unikatnog glasa.

Osnovni princip Aleksandrinog rada se zasniva na koriscenju najboljeg iz klasicne tehnike ( vezbe disanja, pravilna postavka tela, dikcija, postavka glasa... ) u kombinaciji sa radom na fleksibilnosti glasa, rasponu, fraziranju, izvodjackoj tehnici i najbitnije, emociji. Ucenici ce imati priliku da saznaju mnogo toga iz teorijske nastave, kao i prakticnog pevanja, rada u studiju, motivacije i postavljanja svojih ciljeva.

Mladji ucenici, uzrasta od 7-14 godina, ce dobiti priliku, da u drustvu svojih vrsnjaka, u zabavnoj i opustenoj atmosferi, razvijaju sluh, vezbaju i pevaju kvalitetnu muziku sa mogucnoscu ulaska u hor "Beogradski Glas", koji pocinje sa radom u decembru 2009.godine. Ovaj hor, oformljen od najboljih mladih pevaca, ce snimiti album Aleksandrinih pesama, posebno komponovanih za tu priliku. Muzika koja ce se vezbati i na kojoj ce se raditi sa decom, ce stilski biti najbliza decijim mjuziklima, muzici iz Diznijevih dugometraznih crtanih filmova, i savremenoj pop muzici. Ideja je da se nasoj deci otvore novi pogledi u svet i da uce muziku i tehnike pevanja, na nacin na koji to rade njihovi vrsnjaci u celom svetu.

Oni malo stariji ( od 15 godina pa nadalje ) ce nauciti najbitnije stvari o pevanju, i bice pripremljeni za profesionalno bavljenje popularnom muzikom.

Aleksandra o skoli kaze: "Postoje dve vrste pevaca. Jedna vrsta su oni pevaci koji tehnicki mogu mnogo toga da otpevaju, ali nemaju karakter i dusu. Druga vrsta su veliki pevaci. Oni kojima je muzika najvaznija stvar u zivotu, oni koji su svoji, drugaciji, unikatni, iskreni, carobni, oni koji znaju kako da vam se zauvek uvuku pod kozu. Ja cu vas nauciti kako da pored pravilne upotrebe glasa i tehnike pevanja, izgradite svoj stil, budete inovativni. I kako da svojom interpretacijom nekog dodirnete i pokrenete. To je glavni cilj ove skole."

Skola pocinje sa radom krajem septembra 2009. godine. Svi zainteresovani treba da popune prijavni formular na osnovu koga ce biti pozvani na audiciju. Sve informacije o skoli i njenim djacima, mogu se naci na web sajtu skole, beogradskiglas.com, kao i na stranicama myspace i facebook, koje ce redovno biti update-ovane, i na kojima ce biti postavljeni i audio i video snimci najboljih djaka.

U planu je, da u decembru 2009., djaci uzrasta do 14 godina, koji su svojim talentom i kvalitetom zasluzili ulazak u hor, snime jednu pesmu, koja ce biti objavljena pred Novu 2010. godinu.

Aleksandra Kovac je postala zastitno lice kampanje "Kazi Svima Koje Volis", koju su pokrenule medijska kuca B92 i Ministarstvo zdravlja Srbije, u borbi protiv raka grlica materice.

Aleksandra, kao neko, ko je silom prilika bio u direktnom kontaktu sa ovom bolescu i svim njenim aspektima ( Aleksandrina majka, Spomenka Kovac, a nas proslavljen tekstopisac i scenarista, je umrla od ove bolesti u svojoj 54.godini zivota ) koristi svaku priliku da prica o ovoj bolesti, ali i najvaznije, kako se ona moze spreciti.

Redovne kontrole kod ginekologa, Papa Nikolau test i kolposkopski pregledi na svakih sest meseci.

Aleksandra Kovac is a singer, songwriter, arranger and producer from Belgrade, Serbia.

She has been writing, playing keyboards and performing her music since she was 15 years old.

At that time, Aleksandra and her younger sister, Kristina, formed a duo named K2, signed a five year management deal with Dave Margereson and Kenny Thompson from Mismanagement, London, and came to do their first tour in England supporting Labi Sifre.

Another tour, but this time supporting Errol Brown, from Hot Chocolate, happened for K2 in 1993. After the tour, they continued working with Errol’s band, a Manchester based production team – New Underground – Robert Maddix (drummer for Stone Roses) & Jonathon Beckford (writer and producer for Jahmelia, Another Level, East 17).

That project took a year to do and gave Alex and Tina a new soulful sound. Alex discovered soul and funk music and quickly absorbed the sounds of her Manchester friends’ record collection, which was ripe with old-school soul music – Aretha Franklin, Sly Stone, Parliament, and Curtis Mayfield. At the same time, Alex was studying classical music at The Belgrade University of Music.

In the next five years, K2 worked with such known names in the music business as Derek Bramble (writer for Whitney Houston, Nona Gaye), the writing duo Rod Argent – Peter Van Hook (produced albums for Tanita Tikaram) , John David ( producer of Everley Brothers ) and many more.

After their contract with Mismanagement expired in 1995, they returned to Belgrade filled with positive energy, creativity and new influences and wrote, arranged and produced their debut-album “K2” and hit number 1 on the charts.

They were an overnight success, and sold more than 70 000 copies of their album and toured all over the country. Then, in December of 1996, they released their second album, and again hit the charts.

This was a breakthrough in the Yugoslav music market, where Alex was regarded as the “first funk and soul singer” and their music as something “new, refreshing and positive”. A year later, they were heard by an A&R from EMI, Spain, and after showcasing for the company, they signed a one album deal for them. They promoted the album in Spain and Portugal and came back to Yugoslavia in 1999 where the group split up.

Alexandra decided on pursuing her solo career, but this time not only as a singer and a writer, but also as an arranger and a producer. She joined forces with a talented producer and a bass player, Roman Gorsek, and they started their own production team –RAProduction. Alex became one of the top writers in Croatia, where she worked with all the biggest names in the business, as well as in her own country: Nina Badric, Severina, Goran Karan, Vesna Pisarovic, Sandi Cenov, Boris Novkovic, Ivana Kindl , Deen, Aleksandra Radovic and others.

Alexandra started writing for theatre, TV, commercials and film, with great success. She got the prestige “Joakim Vujic” award for The Best Music In Theatre for Sheakspeare's “The Tempest” directed by Jug Radivojevic.

In 2006 she released her long awaited solo album called “Honey And Milk”, after a very difficult period in her personal and family life. Alex says about the making of the album: ''It was the most creative and releasing moment of my life... I used to come very early in the studio, before anyone else, write, arrange, edit, listen to the stuff we've done and then write some more. Roman would continue in the afternoon, and we would work deep into the night. It wasn't rare to find me sleeping in front of the computer, my head safely nested on the keyboard:)

I put all my energy, everything I was feeling, all the love and pain into each and every song on that album and I knew I had something special on my hands!''

The album hit the charts imidiately. It was the Best Selling Album Of The Year, Aleksandra got the MTV Award as the Best Adriatic Act on the 2006 EMA’s in Copenhagen, and toured all over Serbia, with great success. The stage is the place where she proved that she is the one and only Balkan Soul Lady.

Alex has been the lightening rod for young people in Serbia, showing them that if you believe in youself and what you do, and if you work really hard and put everything you've got into it, you will suceed.

Alex is a true supporter of animal rights, which she proved by running a rescue shelter for abandoned animals in Belgrade, for three years, and rehomed more than 50 animals. She is a vegetarian, with a healthy, strong and positive life philosophy. In 2007., The British Council in Serbia asked Aleksandra and Roman, to organise a workshop for young people interested in learning about the music business in Serbia, and afterwards, write an essay about the subject.

Alex was the first Serbian to appear on the cover of Cosmopolitan, the first Serbian artist to get the MTV Award … voted one of the ten most popular women in Serbia 2007! She is planning a new album for 2009, and a lot more surprises for all of you who support and love her!
