Alexander Faem est auteur-compositeur et producteur, il a co-écrit avec J.E Deluxe l ’album Tribute to Delon/Melville en 2001( Eurovisions-wagram) où apparaissaient Ariel Wizman, Bertrand Burgalat, Jacno, April March, Helena Noguerra, Saint-Etienne et depuis 2004, il officie dans le quatuor rock parisien Gülcher. Deux ans après son album concept Agent 238 (MOP/Rue Stendhal), Alexander Faem est de retour le 2 Avril 2012 avec son nouvel opus intitulé Bataille Royale, album à la fois intrigant, raffiné et offensif. Les atouts sont posés : des mélodies ferrées d’or, un songwriting recherché avec des petites histoires sarcastiques reflets d'une réalité parfois ingrate, une alchimie pop émouvante entre les voix et la myriade d’instruments. En ouverture, l' énergique "Correspondant de guerre", métaphore de l'amour désabusé, le titre "Orthodoxie", s’emploie à peindre le profil d’un escroc patenté, accroche avec ses accords et son tempo vitaminé et nous fait songer aux meilleures heures d'un Magazine ou d'un Taxi girl. Des premières notes de piano glamour de La petite robe noire aux arrangements audacieux de Walpurgis, chaque titre sort l’artillerie lourde et les singles potentiels s'enchaînent à la vitesse du son. Multi-instrumentiste, Alexander Faem porte ses textes en français avec classe et pertinence, où la noirceur, l'ironie et le mauvais esprit se rencontrent parfois comme sur le titre "Petit personnel" Sa voix, d’une musicalité vibrante, est un étendard qui flotte sur les guitares subtiles, le piano rythmique, les claviers analogiques souvent psychés, ouvre un sillage aux choeurs séduisants de Clara Enghoff. Les 11 titres élégants de Bataille Royale dévoilent l’étendue du talent de composition et l’univers baroque d’Alexander Faem. Résolument unique !
