Founded in October 1975 by sixteen Alexandria residents, the Alexandria Community Singers, as they were then called, decided to do something different. They picked a repertoire that no other choral group was doing. Their focus on American popular music — pop, rock, show tunes, blues, and jazz — distinguished them from the numerous choral groups in the area.
Now, 33 years later, we’re still rocking, popping, dancing, and loving to perform. The Singers have performed in many venues including the Kennedy Center, The National Theatre, DAR Constitution Hall, the Alexandria Lyceum, the Mormon’s Visitor Center, and the George Washington Masonic Memorial. They also performed at events such as the Alexandria Red Cross Waterfront Festival, the Christmas Eve benefit concert at the Kennedy Center, the Christmas in Washington program for President Reagan, President Carter’s Inaugural Songfest, and numerous performances at The National Christmas Tree.
In past couple months, we’ve sung the U.S. and Candian National Anthems at a Washington Caps game at the Verizon Center and we’re in the process of preparing our big June Show - "Singers Go To Summer Camp!"
We’re always looking for new singers to join our group. If you’re interested in auditioning, we’d love to have you! Auditions can be possible by appointment year-round. Open auditions are held every Tuesday in January and September! We LOVE to perform so, if you’d like to join us, can snap your fingers and stomp your feet - come on by!
We practice every Tuesday from 7pm to 9:30pm and once a month on a Saturday morning (usually 9am-1pm). Additionally, we schedule dance rehearsals and sectional rehearsals throughout the season.

this is cool..especially since my cuz (Hi Deb!) is probably the coolest member..(only because I don't know anyone else!)I love the singing and would audition if I lived a little closer!
