"Starrain" is a film by artist/designer Paola Suhonen of IVANA HELSINKI, featuring ALEXA and her song, "THE SEA." "Starrain" accompanied the Ivana Helsinki Spring 2009 collection of the same name, and was projected at Copenhagen Spring Fashion Week.
"In a pixie and naïf soaked sonic world, you could be forgiven for thinking there’s little room left for another chanteuse. But ALEXA WILDING combines the haunting qualities of The Child Ballads with a Leonard Cohenian sense of wordplay and there’s some rock ‘n’ roll in there too—for a while Wilding played with former Sonic Youth drummer Bob Bert in Int’l Shades. Bottom Line: Sometimes you need just a little dainty comfort to stop the bleeding in your ears." (NEW YORK PRESS)
Brooklyn-based ALEXA WILDING was recently featured as Nylon’s “Band Crush” and “Who’s That Girl” in the New York Post’s Page Six.” Her upcoming self-titled EP of eight original songs was mixed by Television’s Fred Smith and features Tim Foljahn, who has collaborated with Cat Power, Thurston Moore, and the late Townes Van Zandt. From 2006-2008, Alexa played synths and sang in Int'l Shades, with ex-Sonic Youth/Pussy Galore drummer, Bob Bert and No Wave’s Mark C (Live Skull). The Shades opened for independent music heavyweights Kid Congo, Psychic TV's Genesis P-Orridge and Mudhoney. As a solo artist, Alexa has gained critical acclaim for her “wintry, poetic songs that have a ghostly air to them” (Time Out New York).

"Lilith Fair resurrects just in time for this New York chanteuse...While the Michelle Branch crowd tried its luck in Hollywood, Alexa was (ahem) actually in school at Bard College. Upon graduation, she took a sort of apprenticeship with Int'l Shades, the band formed by Sonic Youth's Bob Bert. Next was some high society notoriety - she jumped out of a cake for Bergdorf Blonde relative Euan Rellie's 35th birthday, which landed her photo in Page Six and W Magazine...Some people are just born for it." (NYLON)
"Songbird ALEXA WILDING is a throwback to Josephine Baker and Joan Baez. Meet the new meaning of Old School." (NY POST)
"So what separates this singer-songwriter from the rest of the eyeliner-heavy faces, screeching vocalists and ambitious fame-hungry youngsters trying to make it on the indie scene? It’s her music’s melodic Folk roots. It’s her uncanny way with words and the sweetly haunting voice she uses to express them. But most of all, it’s that intangible something that lies behind her sweet smile. Beyond her pretty face and songbird voice, this chick is dark; maybe even a little twisted." (SCALLYWAG & VAGABOND)
"ALEXA WILDING is a city kid. A member of the New York artist scene since birth. She possesses that 'otherness', the thing that all of us raised by artists recognize. She's also one of the truest New Yorkers I have met. You can hear the city in her music, see it in the way she carries herself. She writes and plays and sings. Her music is deceptive, hypnotic. It draws you in and suddenly you begin to realize you are in the middle of someone's head. But wait, is it yours? Are these your memories? Did you write a song and forget?" (JOY)
