    Alex Ikot, nace en Guinea Ecuatorial en un entorno marcado por la música, en el que, a muy temprana edad, comienza a desarrollar sus aptitudes como percusionista y batería. Su empeño y dedicación le han llevado a colaborar con diferentes formaciones en numerosos paises de África, Europa, América y Asia, consiguiendo una gran versatilidad sin abandonar sus raices de ritmos africanos, en los que consigue encajar cualquier estilo (jazz, flamenco, ritmos latinos etc..). Su trabajo queda reflejado en varias facetas: como músico de estudio, ha colaborado con diferentes artistas en varios paises, como profesor, imparte clases particulares de batería y percusión, y como compositor ha puesto en marcha su proyecto más personal, Papá Ikot Band donde muestra su propio concepto del afroflamenco, el afropop y el afrojazz. Y a todo esto, se le suman un gran número de colaboraciones en bandas que van desde el afrobeat hasta el flamenco, pasando por el pop o el reggae.       Africa, The Dark Continent...an idiom first used in the memoirs of Scottish missionary John Leighton Wilson who wrote extensively of his sojourn in Africa during the 19th century. Dark Continent was not an allusion to the dark skin tones of the inhabitant people, but to a land shrouded in mystery and largely misunderstood by Europeans. Wisdom prevailed and Africa is acknowledged today as the cradle of humanity and a land of great light...and our Spotlight Artist is Alex Ikot.
