In a music industry saturated with fly-by-night singles, auto-tune madness and pre-packaged artist development, vocalist Alex Nester simply refuses to conform! Instead, she brings back the musicians to the art of music-making with her highly anticipated second album, #BurnItDown. The new album can only be described as a "hell-hath-no-fury" collection of original music chronicling her trials and letdowns with the state of the music business today. But the industry is not the only factor surrounding the creation of this musical tour-de-force. Alex's bout with cancer 10 years ago (she was diagnosed at the tender age of 16) has helped shape her unique sound filled with messages of love, faith, positivity, and healing while channeling the retro soul artists of the 1960's and 70's... which only makes sense, as she is currently touring as a backup singer for Tito Jackson (of legendary Jackson 5 fame), and has opened as a solo artist for such acts as Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, The Rascals, Evelyn "Champagne" King, The Stylistics, and veteran singer-songwriter Dave Mason. Her resume already includes 12 albums, countless jingles, and over 25 theatrical productions, as well as working with established musicians such as The Four Tops, The Fifth Dimension, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Desi Arnaz, Jr., drummer Alphonse Mouzon, and saxophonists Brandon Fields and Eric Marienthal. With her extensive resume and list of world-class musicians surrounding the making of her music, it's no wonder Alex has been a featured artist at The Los Angeles Music Awards, The Hollywood Music in Media Awards, CDBaby, Soultracks, TheUrbanMusicScene, and various publications and soul music radio stations around the world. If you know anybody up and coming that sings or raps and can perform a 10-12 minute set without profanity, you can have them send me thier music site if they want to perform at June 24th's Hip Hop at the Cafe at the Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park. There are no strings attached, just bring as many people as you can. =) Be blessed!
