I made this myspace background at BackgroundStation.com
I have been playing the Piano & keyboard for over 10 years and my main passion is for jazz music. I played with a Trio at jam sessions and gigs in and around Manchester. With the Trio I played in, I wrote and arranged the tunes with Stuart Whitehead, who has guided me in this field. I met him at a jam session at Band On The Wall in Manchester when I was 17, and from then on we have played countless times together becoming very tight as a rhythm section for various bands. I was also part of a Live dance act band called 'LTA' aka, Love The Action. They were on the label PhutureLounge, which Dave Jones aka Zed Bias was behind. Whilst on the label, I did session work for Zed Bias, who is known to many as a great producer & is very much still active on the current scene today.
I played on an album which got released called 'Rainbow Soul Vol 1' on Phuture lounge recordings. to hear samples of the album go to:
www.humpty.de/?id=47&aid=6454.
I play solo piano occasionally, but mainly play in larger ensembles. I currently live in London & have just finished a Degree Jazz Music at Middlesex University.
At present, I'm in a few bands, two of which are featured in the videos. The first is with my trio back in Manchester, featuring Stuart Whitehead on Bass, & Sam Draper on Drums.
The second is a Quintet which was formed at uni, feat. Jack Kendon leading on Trumpet. Also included in the band are Jonny G - Alto, Adam King - Bass & John French - Drums.
I also play with Tim Collinson in Duo & Quartet settings.
Currently i'm looking to play with people not just in the Jazz field, but also in the Broken Beat/New jazz/Disco House/Electronica scene.
Please email if your interested in collaborating.
Thanks!
yo Al, its Defty, just realised you were the first person to ever comment on our page. Thanks. Still feeling the tunes on your page. How was the Robert Glasper gig? Or has it not been yet? Well jealous, definately want to catch him sometime. Get yourself some gigs organised in Manchester, its been too long.
Hi, I've been spending a bit of time checking out the pages of anybody
who has posted positive comments about the Mouse Outfit, and linking
them to 5 of the earliest tracks we wrote, which are FREE to download
on soundcloud.
We are an 8 piece hip hop funk band, based in Manchester UK, and we
have recently supported Akil (Jurassic 5), Speech Debelle, Fabio (Radio
1). Feel free to pass them on to friends. Thanks for the support and
don't forget to keep checking back for new tunes! Keepin real hip hop
alive!
