  • Bio

Alvin Crow has been a fixture of the Austin music scene since he relocated here from Amarillo in 1973. .... Crow played a major part in the Cosmic Cowboy revolution of the 1970's, where the hippies and rednecks stopped fighting each other and started groovin' together at the Armadillo World Headquarters. Through the foggy interior of the Armadillo, Alvin and his 9-piece swing band could be seen either headlining or playing the opening slot of now-legendary shows featuring such acts as Bruce Springstein, Gram Parsons, and Marshall Tucker. .... Countless appearances at the Split Rail, the One Knight, the Hole in the Wall, and of course, the Broken Spoke, not to mention Carnegie Hall and several world tours with the Sir Douglas Quintet, have forever cemented Crow's place in the hearts of true Texas music lovers. The infamous Flexible Flyer tour bus may be gone, but you will still hear the sounds of Faded Love and the Nyquil Blues ring out loud and proud every week at the dancehalls and venues of Austin. .... --Jason Crow
