AMATHYST are a four piece all-girl band from Newcastle, Australia unlike anything you've heard before!
The girls have been together for the past six years playing many live shows and earning themselves a great reputation as a live band, drawing strong crowds wherever they go. They not only look the part but their stage presence and potential is blinding!
Over the years they have earned much respect playing alongside big names such as The Sleepy Jackson, Karnivool, 28 Days, Bodyjar and Cog etc and have been personally recognized by famous record producer Nick Launay (INXS, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Silverchair, Nick Cave) who has been an inspiring mentor throughout their career.
They have just released their self titled Ep on itunes and their fan-base is rapidly building! Since late last year their track 'Emily' (produced by Launay) has received over 13,000 downloads through Triple J's Unearthed website.
The band also recently picked up sponsorship from major clothing label Emily the Strange who cross promote their universal label with Amathyst’s dark, distinctive image and ground breaking music.
Watch this band as they could quite possibly be the next big thing!

Hey girls, on behalf of the level 8 crew i just want to wish you kids good luck tonight, hope everything go's awesome, it's been great sharing the stage and getting to see the evolution of amathyst over the past 5 years we have known each other, hope you all have a freaking killer last set, im sure we will be seeing some of you girls on the scene again in time. very sad to see another newcastle music icon call it a day. have a good one girls.
