NEW 7" EP CURRENTLY BEING RECORDED ON TAPE / COMPUTER - BRING MIXED BY OLIVER MACKAY! [T/A + RA + MORE]Biography
Tales of fractured relationships entwined in ukulele, junkyard percussion (fly swats on suitcases, newspaper on dustbins, plastic bags and cat bells) and Casio keyboards with boy/girl vocals. Raw, refreshing and blatantly honest, it is pleasant junk-freak-folk music for a confused world.
Ambitious Lovers have released two EPs and a CDr full length on WarrenStreetYouth Records.
We've had the good fortune to perform with Calvin Johnson [USA], Low [USA], Marissa Nadler [USA], Novi Split [USA], Woelv [USA], Holly Throsby [Sydney], Grey Daturas [Melbourne], Kes [Melbourne], Laura Jean [Melbourne], Ned Collette [Melbourne] ... and a few others.
Live Reviews
"...it’s like Kid Strange and Urban Blitz from the Doctors of Madness at
their most morose played Overhang Party, or a mogadon’d Peter Hammill
jamming with Van Der Graaf’s Graham Smith. Elsewhere, the singular
desolation is most reminiscent of the most down down moments of Nico’s
THE MARBLE INDEX or even of Jesse Colin Young’s The Youngbloods at
their most mercurial. But the Scrapes are still so original their music
ultimately don’t sound like nobody but themselves." Julian Cope
Hello Faithful
followers!! Sorry for the
disappearing act. Maggie cracked her head open during a basement show, so we’ve
been out(no pun intended) for awhile. She is almost better so when that happens
we’ll be back in the recording studio. In the meantime, we did manage to
convince our buddies at myspace.com/onryeproductions to let us do the video
game SFX that are on their newest episode.
If you are interested
in having a song or songs of yours featured in future episodes please send mp3s
to onryecontact@gmail.com
"Also hugely enjoyable, highly original AND psychically useful is the
music of Australian duo The Scrapes, whose fiery epic guitar and
abandoned Mithraic fiddle pieces evoke images of lost Keltic lands
inundated by the oceans, lost Iberian & Armorican sea peoples and
lost times from beyond the beyond." Julian Cope
Our friends at onrye are still looking for music for their films and web series. If you would like to be involved, send your mp3(s) to onryecontact@gmail.com. This is the trailer for an upcoming short. Hope you like, and please comment!
