The project Ancient Dome was created in 2000, thanks to the will to play heavy metal, by Paul (Paolo Porro - Guitars, Vocals), Cuzzo (Matteo Cuzzolin - Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals) and Pech (Gabriele Borghi - Guitars). Syra (Salvatore Siragusano - Drums) joined the band the same year. At the beginning, the proposal was much more concentrated on classic metal, until it finally came to the construction of a new sound based on the Bay Area Thrash, but also debtor to the other influences of AD members.
The intent is to recreate the atmospheres of bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Heathen, Testament, Coroner, Artillery, Forbidden, Slayer, Exodus, Overkill and so on, mixing the thrash sound with melody.
In 2004, before the recording of the first demo "Once Were Thrashers", Pech decided to leave the band, being replaced by the actual lead guitarist Ale (Alessandro Fontana).
In 2005 Ancient Dome recorded their first EP, which obtained good responses from the reviewers, but first of all from metalheads, who started to follow and support the band.
In 2006/2007 the band began to play live continuously, supporting great realities from italian underground.
In June 2007, Syra decided to quit the band for personal reasons, and now Joe (Giorgio Alberti) is behind the drum set.
In November 2007, Ancient Dome started the recording session for the debut album, entitled "Human Key", out the 15th of January 2009 for the italian independent label Punishment 18 Records. Also "Human Key" is acquiring lot of assents, and thanks to the successful distribution from P18R, the name becomes to be known in the underground italian thrash circuit (proudly inserted between the acts of the so called "New Wave Of Italian Thrash Metal") and worldwide.
After an assiduous live activity, being opening act for thrash metal living legends like Artillery, Whiplash and Holy Moses, and being inserted in Metal Disorder 2009 Festival with the labelmates Pitiful Reign, the band is actually working on the successor of "Human Key", which will see the light in 2010.


L'embrione Ancient Dome nasce nel 2000, dalla volontà di muoversi verso sonorità heavy di Paul (Paolo Porro - Chitarra, Voce), Cuzzo (Matteo Cuzzolin - Basso, Cori) e Pech (Gabriele Borghi - Chitarra), a seguito dello scioglimento della precedente cover band Emblema, il tutto spinto dalla crescente necessità di creare un proprio sound ed un proprio stile. La line up viene completata da Syra (Salvatore Siragusano - Batteria), batterista reduce da una passata esperienza in campo death metal, ma totalmente devoto al genere che contraddistinguerà la nuova era del combo lombardo.
La proposta degli esordi si muove verso lidi classic metal, sulla scia dei gruppi più rappresentativi, per arrivare nel 2004 ad un rinnovo totale della scaletta ed al tuffo nei magnifici anni '80, più precisamente nella San Francisco Bay Area, con il successivo arrangiamento dei primi brani 100% AD. I gruppi di riferimento sono rintracciabili nei primi Metallica, Megadeth, Heathen, Testament, Coroner, Artillery, Forbidden, Slayer, Exodus, Overkill e in tutti gli altri nomi portanti del panorama thrash metal internazionale.
Nel 2004 avviene il primo avvicendamento, con l'uscita di Pech che lascia il posto vacante nelle mani di Ale (Alessandro Fontana - Chitarra), precedentemente membro di band classic e power metal e tutt'ora in forza come chitarra solista. La formazione si fissa sui quattro elementi e abbandona le speranze prima, l'idea poi, di trovare un cantante, fardello di cui si fa carico Paul.
Dopo un demo datato 2004 mai dato alle stampe, "Once Were Thrashers", il 2005 vede l'uscita del primo omonimo EP, ben accolto dalla critica ma soprattutto dal pubblico, che comincia a diventare consistente e seguire la band con grande partecipazione. Tra il 2006 ed il 2007 incomincia una intensa attività live; di supporto a band come Wine Spirit, e forte della comparsa live ad un Meet & Greet con i Virgin Steele, gli AD cominciano ad uscire dall'anonimato.
Nel giugno/luglio 2007 Syra lascia la band per motivi personali (attualmente in forza ai death metallers Grievers), e viene sostituito nel settembre dello stesso anno da Joe (Giorgio Alberti - Batteria).
Nel novembre 2007 cominciano le registrazioni del debut album, intitolato "Human Key", dal 15 gennaio 2009 disponibile nel mercato discografico underground italiano grazie all'interesse della label indipendente nostrana Punishment 18 Records. Anche "Human Key" ottiene un ottimo successo fra gli addetti ai lavori, e grazie alla distribuzione capillare da parte della P18R, il nome comincia a divenire noto nel circuito thrash italiano (orgogliosamente citati fra gli esponenti della cosiddetta "New Wave Of Italian Thrash Metal"), oltre ad ottenere un discreto riscontro a livello internazionale.
Dopo una assidua attività on stage, che comprende apparizioni di spalla a mostri sacri del thrash metal del calibro di Artillery, Whiplash ed Holy Moses e la partecipazione all'edizione del Metal Disorder 2009 con i compagni d'etichetta Pitiful Reign, la band è attualmente al lavoro sul successore di "Human Key", che vedrà la luce nel corso del 2010.
